The rev of the V6 engine filled his ears. The air if the open windows blowing against his hair, as the ever ending road in front of him twisted and turned. In the passenger seat of a track configured 2003 Nissan Skyline R34.
These were all the things, all the factors of these experiences, that brought a smile to his face every time he was behind the dashboard. But one main cause of that wide grin was the driver. Helmet on, face obscure of their features as they focused on the winding paths ahead. But one thing was without a doubt in the child's mind. They were smiling too.
"Ah, c'mon Sis! One more round!" His own adolescent voice filled his mind. So innocent and full of life.
"Alright, alright! One more time and then we head to lunch."
Those were simpler times. A time with seemingly no consequence, or repercussions to the feeling of speed.
And now here he was. Stuck in a memory he wished he could relive one more time. But instead he was forced to let that dream fade, as he slipped from his peaceful slumber back to cold reality.
"Hey! I know you can hear me!" This new voice continued, and he simply let out a tired sigh at that. "C'mon. At least say something so I know you're alive."
Lifting his head just a bit he was able to see the source. A young girl, near his age at sixteen, with neatly brushed pearl black hair only reaching down to the lower parts of her neck. Her skin a soft porcelain color, eyes a piercing oceanic blue. Her bangs held up by a plain yellow hairclip.
She wore what was the traditional clothing of their school, a plain black suit jacket with blue trimming aloud the collar, buttons and cufflinks, over a simple dress shirt fully buttoned up. As for her lower body she was issued a black suit pants to match, with black dress shoes. This was the attire for all students in their school, with variations such as the red trims along the young man's blazer.
"Anna...Hey..." He looked up at her, crystal green eyes dull as her. They had been that way for the last few years, ever since they first met. Tone too. "Did I fall asleep again?"
"Yes!" Anna all but shouted as a reply, placing both hands on her hips with a soft frown. "For the twelfth time in a row..." she groaned through her teeth, narrowing her eyes.
The now vacant classroom the two stood within, up until a few minutes ago, held the two's previous literature class. Both figured the course would be an easy course for easy points for graduation. However only one of them kept that belief, and he spends a majority of the time in this class sleeping! And yet he still held an A in this class.
"Right...Oh well." He simply shrugged, moving his arms from the counter he sat at and using his legs planted firmly on the floor and spinning himself towards the young girl in his spinning chair. He then lifted himself onto his feet, swinging his head to the side to get a crack out of his neck. "I'm going home."
"What?" The pearl black haired young woman frowned as she looked up at the young man. "Shelby, you gotta get out more."
"Why would I need that?" The young man questioned with a cold tone to match his expression. "I'm already out for six hours a day for classes alone."
"Socially. I mean socially." She specified.
"I talk to you on a daily basis." He deadpanned.
"With other people!" She blurted out with a hostile tone, and Shelby could swear he saw a vein nearly pop out the side of her forehead. He didn't give it much thought, though. And that was obvious by his lackluster expression.
The young woman simply sighed, turning away with her hands on her hips. "You're a pain sometimes, you know that?"
"You've made me wholly aware." He deadpanned once again. At this point she considered that his native tongue.
