Winter Night
The night felt colder than usual. It was winter, feeling cold should be normal. But to (Y/n) it felt as if her heart was freezing.
The clock was ticking. Five past eight.
It was dinner time but (Y/n) didn't feel like eating. She didn't even want to move. So, she sat there by the window, wrapping the blanket tightly around her body. It was storming outside, raging and wild. But the storm inside her heart was probably wilder. The sound of her phone notification caught her attention. She took it quickly, hoping it was him. But disappointment took over her features as she looked at the screen. It was her colleague asking if she was done with the paperwork, which she was but she was not in the mood to reply, so she let it slide.
(Y/n) knows she shouldn't be like this but she can't help it. She worries too much And when it comes to him, she just cannot stay calm. She took a deep breath. Contemplating...
'Should I call? What if he's busy? The timezone is different too. I don't want to bother him.'
She exhaled a frustrated sigh, staring at her screen, at the contact number flashing before her eyes..
'Taehyungie 💜'
Taehyung, her boyfriend, the love of her life. Her world revolved around him. She loves him too much and every moment away from him was torture.
He was in Paris, for an exhibition. He was a famous painter now.
His paintings were so enigmatic and beautiful, it caught everyone's attention. She was so proud of him.
He was living his dream life and she couldn't be happier for him. But big dreams come with a stake.
Ever since he became famous he had to constantly travel abroad. For exhibitions, meetings and scheduled works.
Even though (Y/n) would never admit it, she hated staying away from him. It was hard for her. If it wasn't for her own job she would have gone with him. But they both had their own careers. She couldn't leave her's just like that. Even though they didn't get to spend much time together, she never complained. After all if Taehyung was happy then who was she to say anything? All she ever wanted was for the boy to keep smiling. His pretty boxy smile that she loved so much. It is her happy pill.
The clock rang indicating the time. It was nine pm now. Taehyung was supposed to call her at 7, he promised. And now it was two hours past the given time. He never breaks promises. (Y/n) tries to convince herself that everything's okay but her mind doesn't stop.
'Is he okay? What If something happened to him? I should call.'
She dials the number.
One ring... Two ring... Multiple rings .. Nobody picks up.
She tries again.
"The number you're trying reach is currently switched off."
She frowns. Negative thoughts flooding her mind. She is restless and she can't ease it. The storm outside has settled. The howling is mere whistle now. But what about the storm that's raging inside her? She felt like crying.
'Why would he switch his phone off? Did the battery die? But he could charge it right? Where are you, Tae?'
(Y/n) doesn't want to think about the worst. But the knot in her stomach gets tighter. She looks at the last text sent to Taehyung and his reply.
