Chapter 1: Into the Pits of Hell (Seth)

It was a cold wet night. I zipped  my bomber jacket up to my neck and put the hood on, but it didn't stop me from shivering. San Francisco was never this cold before, but I guessed it was part of the weird day I've been having. The smell of freshly brewed coffee filled the air just as I passed by Starbucks. I remembered my girlfriend, Emma. She Loves lattes, so I decided to drop by and grab her some. We had a huge fight earlier today, so then I thought buying her one would make her feel better. I bought her favorite: Vanilla latte, and as I held it between my fingers, I imagined her smiling at me and telling me she loves me. I walked out the door, remembering to hide the latte inside the pocket of my jacket to help keep me warm.

Weirder things started happening on the last block to Emma's place. Hobos on the sidewalks started pointing at me and murmuring things to others. I kept my head bent low and hands in my pocket and avioded them as best as I can. The wind was strong and leaves were strewn across the pavement. Strange noises coming from almost everywhere were bothering me and only I seemed to have heard them.

I realized I only had to cross one more street to my girlfriend's place. There weren't many cars passing by and as soon as the walking light blinked up, I walked right foot first to the other side. Along the way, my cellphone vibrated.

"Hello?" I said, placing the phone closer to my ears.

"S-Seth?" said a trembling voice. It was Emma, and she was sobbing. I knew something was wrong just from the sound of her voice.

"You okay Emma?" I said, this time slowing my pace.

"We need...to...Talk." she sniffed. When she said that, I felt everything pause for a moment. My breathing went uneven.

"W-What do you want to talk about" I felt my voice faltering, as if i wished I hadn't asked her. I kinda knew what she was going to say, but I was stil hoping she wouldn't say it.

".....It's over" she managed in between sobs.

My heart felt heavy. The whole weight of the world suddenly seemed to drop on my shoulders, my ears were buzzing. I couldn't make out things clearly. I saw hobos or what seemed to be people on the end of the street yelling at me about something, but I was too confused to hear them.

"Seth?" Emma checked. It sounded like she was trying to catch her breath as if she was running. Just then, I felt myself hurriedly and painfully slammed. My hand felt numb like it was slammed on a hard bricked wall. My cellphone flew out, the latte spilled on my shirt, but the heat didn't burn me. Something else caused me more pain. Air was knocked out of my chest and I felt the most unexplainable and excruciating pain I haven't felt in my whole life, blind spots appeared through my vision. This is all just a bad dream I thought to myself. My eyes were blinded by a shining light which suddenly started to blurr. I felt myslef being dragged into the suffering darkness. Then everything was black, I felt myself slowly drifting away to nothingness....

Suddenly, I saw myself as a kid, about 2 years old. I was splashing water in the bathub while my mom laughed and smiled. She was holding a plastic ship toy and making funny engine sounds..... I've, never seen her that happy before....

--------Suddenly Everything Got Dark, and another scene faded forward to me,,

This time, I was 5 years older. It was my 7th birthday and I was hanging out with my bestfriend in the backyard. We were wearing party hats and secretly eating chocolate cake. I remember that day! We stole a part of my birthday cake. My first stolen item.
