Mason's POV
We drive back to their house and go back up to his room and Collapse onto our backs on his bed exhausted. "Thank goodness for Saturday tomorrow," He says in between breaths.
I turn on my side and say, "You know that tomorrow is Friday right?"
His face drops in disappointment and he says, "I give up!"
I laugh at him and smile saying, "It could be worse,"
He sits up on his elbows and says, "True, but it's still not good."
We laugh for a bit when I say, "Hey, I have a question..."
He looks at me smiling yet curious look on his face, "Yeah?"
"How come your acting so different so suddenly? All your friends hate me because I'm gay and now you're just being so nice to me... Why?"
He looks at me straight in the eyes and says simply, "Because I knew you were a good person," He must have seen the shock in my eyes because he chuckles and says, "I've seen the way you treat all the people who are bullied, you stand up for them even if it means bad for you. I wanted to do that but I just couldn't bring myself to, I know it is selfish but-"
I cut him off by saying, "You were just trying to survive, fit in, but I always found it to hard so I just stood out. Can't blend in if you were born to stand out."
"Yet I did," I look at him in question and he continues, "I am not anything like any of those homophobic assholes, as you can see I have two dads but I also have a trans brother and pan sister as well as the fact that I myself am..."
"Yes?" I think I know the answer but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.
"I can't believe you're the first person I'm telling this aside from my parents, but..." he bites his lip then looks at me and takes a deep breath and says, his voice shaking, "I'm gay,"
I am unable to contain myself and laugh saying, "You were scared to tell ME that? I'm gay! You think I'd care!?"
He sits up and pushes me over onto my back saying, "Jerk!"
We both laugh together and I realize how quickly I went from dismissing his existence to laughing with him as if I had been friends with him for forever. Crazy what happens when you just talk to someone. I sit up and notice him staring at me and say, "What are you staring at?"
"Nothing!" He says while he slowly turns bright red.
I laugh and decide to tease him so I lean right up in his face and say, "You sure about that?"
He face grows even more bright, not that I wasn't blushing myself though, and he mutters, "T-to c-close!"
"What's wrong? Can't deal with a little teasing?"
He rolls his eyes and says, "I get enough from my whole family,"
I laugh and lay back down next to him unable to remove the smile on my face. "What do they tease you about?"
He hesitates then mutters, "T-the guy I like..."
I feel my heart sink and say, "Who?" Why in the world did that hurt so much? Did I like him? Would it be that bad if I did?
"Not telling!" He laughs as he says this and rolls over.
"Fine," I get up and walk over to his couch and lay down saying, "Night weirdo,"
"Night asshole,"
And we both drift to sleep in our respected places and good dreams instead of nightmares.
