Though wretched,
Yet a felicitous epilogue awaited."

Smiles. Vulnerable smiles.
Hyuntae ran away from us, giggling as he chased after his ball. He looked so happy. We were so happy. Even the shining sun reflected our happiness.
Braiden and I stood as we watched Hyuntae run around with smiles crept up our faces. Just then, Braiden tugged my sleeves pulling me to sit beside him on the picnic mat.
Astonishment. Bewilderment.
"I can't do this anymore," he said in a monotone voice with perplexity in his words. His face showed no emotion with his lips pursed on a line as his eyes wandered along with Hyuntae's figure running around. His smile long gone.
"Do what?" I said oblivious of his words. My smile swept upon the seriousness his face projected.
"Lets breakup. I would've never asked for us to breakup but you know why. I'm going back to the States next week. Mom, she needs me," his voice breaks down. "She called me a few days ago telling me to come back." He takes my hand in his, "I hope you'll understand!" he lets out shaking sigh.
Silencehoverstheair.
His words took time to process. But,he was right. He couldn't be here. But only Hyuntae concerns me. What am I supposed to do with him?
"Okay, I get you," I finally say. "I get you. We talked about this before" I stand up so does he. I put my hand forward for him to shake. With little hesitation he grabs my hands pulling me in for a hug and whispers an inaudible sorry. I patted his back in reply. I understand his decision. It's hard but it's right.
Fate.
"Sir, this is the information of the lady who is adopting Hyuntae," Minseok hands Taehyung a file.
"Taehee. Park Taehee." Taehyung reads her name out as if almost absorbing her name in his brain.
"Contact her," he says after his brief thinking. Minseok nods and exits his office.
He huffs out a heavy sigh as frustration takes over him. He questions why Hana had put Hyuntae up adoption before she died when he has a father who could've looked after him. Deep inside he blames Hana but his determination to find Hyuntae and his adopting mom captivates his thoughts more.
...
Even with his various thoughts, he's completely drowned in his work. He hasn't looked up from his computer ever since he started working.
Knock. Even a knock on his door didn't seem to distract him from his work.
"Come in."
"Sir, she's not picking up," Taehyung shots his head up to hear Minseok out. Before he could say anything, Minseok cuts him off. "She's not even picking the calls from the orphanage."
Taehyung nods his head and hums. "Call her again tomorrow. Keep trying until she picks up."
