OVERUSED PLOTS
---- there are a lot of fics where there's another weasley sister, who ends up being harry's love interest and she always replaces ginny, and her name is almost always rose for some reason. so instead of ginny in the chamber of secrets, it's the other weasley sister. harry isn't just friends with the weasleys!
---- why are the ocs only ever gryffindor or slytherin? hufflpuff and ravenclaw students exist!
---- there's so many plots that are like i'm sirius black's daughter and i know he's innocent but nobody else does, and my mother died so i live with so and so and i have a huge crush on harry potter cause hot damn that boy is fine and then sirius and now and i can live with him and blah blah blah... this is so overused and gets kinda boring after a while.
---- Not! Every! Oc! Needs! To! Be! A! Weasley! For! Harry! To! Notice! Them! there's thousands of students at hogwarts and so many to choose from, not just the weaselys, potters and malfoys. you can use the longbottoms, lovegoods, abbotts, diggorys and just about anyone! or you can create a wizarding family of your own (which is fun)
---- in marauder era fics, the oc is almost always the fifth marauder or takes peter's spot in the group but they're also really close to lily potter.
---- fbawtft: newt and oc date, go visit tina, tina gets jealous and acts weird.
---- remus lupin is a marauder and a jokester, maybe more tame and got in less trouble then the marauders, but a marauder non the less. remus lupin does not, i read DOES NOT smoke weed or do drugs (unlike one fic i read) and is not a bad boy. he's a soft boi, top of his class, respects teachers, hated snape, still helps with pranks.
---- there's a popular trope where lily and remus are best friends and i'm not really sure where it came from. other then james being in love with lily, there isn't really a connection between the two.
