Jughead's POV
I sat down on the couch with a mug of hot chocolate and opened up my laptop. I have been doing an article piece on the strange attacks that have been happening in Riverdale recently. The attacks happened at night and the victims would be left with deep scratches on their body, nobody had been killed, they're all currently in the hospital in critical condition. Betty and I have decided to work on the case together. She should be here any minute now. Then not long after, I heard a knock on the door.
'That must be her.' I said to myself as I stood up and opened the door. Once I opened the door, I was faced with the love of my life, Betty Cooper.
"Hey Jughead." When she smiled at me my heart fluttered and I felt all fuzzy inside.
"Hi." I said and gave her a kiss and she kissed back.
"I can't be here for long. If my parents knew I was here then they would probably kill me." She said as she walked in and I closed the door.
"You want a drink or something?" I asked.
"Yeah, water would be alright." I nodded and then walked into the kitchen and grabbed a glass cup and poured water in.
"So what do you think? What could it be?" I questioned as I came and sat back down on the couch.
"Well it must be an animal of some kind," she said as she looked at the photos that were spread out on the coffee table.
"It couldn't be an animal, look at the claw spacing." I paused as I pointed at the photo.
"Their way too far apart from each other. Whatever did this is either wolverine or a huge animal." I suggested, Betty giggled.
"Don't bother investigating, it's just a stray wolf that came from the mountains attacking people. There's no investigation needed." My dad said as he walked into the living room.
"And how do you know that?" Betty questioned.
"Yeah," I agreed.
"Because I'm the Sheriff." He explained.
"Oh right." I said, my cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
'Well that case was short lived.' I thought as my dad walked out of the room.
"Well I better get going then. I have to pack for tomorrow." Betty said as she stood up.
"Remember Archie and Veronica are gonna pick us up in the afternoon to go to Veronica's family's cabin so we have some time to investigate in the morning," I smiled.
"But your dad said we don't need to, it's just a stray wolf," Betty exclaimed.
"I don't believe that. You saw the images, the scratches on the victims were 5 times bigger than a regular wolf could do and the bite marks don't match a wolf's bite marks," I declared.
"Let's investigate after we go to Pops," Betty smiled as she opened the front door.
"Bye," I yelled out as she walked out the front door.
*Time Skip* The Next Day
I woke up and slowly got out of bed. I stood up and looked at my hair and it was all messy. I tried to make it less messy and then put my beanie on. I let out a yawn and checked the time. I still had a few hours before I had to meet Archie, Veronica and Betty at Pop's. So I got dressed, I put on my leather jacket over a white shirt under a blue flannel shirt unbuttoned. I walked into the kitchen and made myself some breakfast. I then sat down and ate breakfast while looking over what I had written for my theories on what the mysterious attacker was. Maybe it is a murderer staging the murders to look like animal attacks or maybe a bear or some kind of huge rabid dog. The only thing I'm sure of is that it isn't a regular wolf attacking people. Before I can make any more assumptions and theories I need more evidence. So this morning Betty and I are going to one of the locations someone was attacked at.
