You know, I don't think I've ever been in a weirder position. I mean, yeah, I've been put in some pretty weird spots, but waiting for my sister to wake up after almost bleeding to death on the floor wasn't one of them. A feeling of guilt was gnawing at my heart because I wasn't the one to save Lilith. I heard her scream for me, and I ran there as fast as I could. But by the time I'd gotten there, whatever had gone down was over and that guy from the metro station was hunched over her while she had this nasty wound in her side. They were disappearing and I freaked out. I had to wrench the door open and throw myself at them before they were gone, and I ended up going with them.

So, now I had no idea where I was with my unconscious twin and the really cute guy who had saved her. Pretty weird scenario, if you ask me.

I sat by Lilith's bedside, clutching her hand tightly and trying to keep calm. Levi had bandaged her up well, but she was still scarily pale and she wouldn't wake up. The only sign that I had that she was still alive was her breathing, and even then it was faint.

"You're going to cut off the blood flow to her fingers, holding on like that." I jerked my head up and fixed my gaze on Levi, who stood in the doorway with his arms crossed. I tried to see past him into the hall, but he closed the door and stepped in, obscuring my view.

"She's unconscious, the blood flow to her fingers isn't important." I snapped. Levi quirked an eyebrow at me and sat on her other side, watching me with narrowed eyes. They were black and I found them strangely alluring.

"You don't have to throw a fit." He said calmly, smoothing his hair back.

"She's my sister! She could be dying for all I know!"

"She's not dying. She's recovering." Levi seemed like he was trying to reassure me, but that just set my nerves higher and I wanted to put up walls. I wanted to put up those unbreakable walls that Lilith had so carefully constructed and only I had the code to get through the gate. But I couldn't.

"Yeah, so reassuring." I snarled, bristling.

"You could stop being hostile. I didn't do anything wrong; Hell, I saved her." I felt my lip quiver and I sighed, slumping into my chair. He was right. He had been the one to save her and I was giving him shit about it. His next words shocked me out of my gloom and sent a jolt of some unknown feeling through me. "She's pretty."

I let my brow furrow and I took a good look at my sister. She was pretty, I'd give him that. When she was asleep, she normally thrashed and screamed out for mom. It broke my heart to come wake her up and have her wake up with tears streaming down her face and her nose running. Because those were the days she would just shut everything out, like she was void of emotion. Now she was calm, her eyes shut peacefully. She wasn't screaming or crying, she wasn't thrashing and almost dislocating her prothstetic. My heart gave a painful thump in my chest as I realized that Levi was right. She wasn't scowling or frowning, and all tension lines were gone. Her skin was smooth, making her look like a doll.

"She is pretty." I said softly.

Levi was staring at me when I looked back up at him and I felt a want to shy away.

"You really love her, don't you?" Levi asked.

"Of course." I was confused by the question. "She's my sister. She's the only family I have left."

"Family means that much to you?"

"Duh." I gave him a weird look and he just murmured something under his breath. He turned his attention to Lilith again and I watched his expression change from confusion to something different. Affection? It was affection, but he didn't look at her like other people who had fallen for her had.
