Death at sea

It started off as a nice day and the sea looked calm as the Sun's scorching rays wasn't as hot due to the playful wind.We had planned to take Alex's new boat out to sea.The weather seemed perfect and the idea was thrilling.

We were far out at sea when we noticed our surroundings was getting darker and looking above i saw the reason for the sudden dimness that drowned out most of the Sun's light.Dark heavy clouds hovered above in the sky.We were struggling to make it to shore before the rain came pouring but the shore was too far.

Trapped in the down pour we struggled to stay afloat by supporting ourselves with our overturned boat.We were both grasping for the air our lungs begged for.Silently i prayed for someone to rescue us and carry us away from this horrifying encounter with the blood thirsty sea.The faint sound of a helicopter reaches our ears over the roaring waves.

A spark of hope shone forth when i saw a helicopter approaching us.Turning to Alex i saw a faint but hopeful smile appear on his face.As the helicopter hovered over us i saw a line dangling for us to reach but only one person could've used it at a time so i coaxed Alex to go first.Reluctantly,i held onto the line tightly as he made his way up.

My hands were giving away and i knew i couldn't make it.I looked up and saw Alex looking down at me shouting for me to grab hold of the line with an encouraging smile.I simply smiled and looked at his face as my hands slipped and i fell into the sea.Water began to fill my lungs and i was slowly sinking.Suddenly, i heard a splash and a pair of hands gripped me. I felt my numb,cold body rising from the water.

Alex had jumped in after me and managed to aboard the helicopter once again but this time he carried me with him.With my last breath i said,"I'm sorry for leaving you now".My eyes slowly closed as Alex sobbed. Giving up i left him.I went to a peaceful slumber without telling Alex my true feelings for him but now i left Alex alone but alive!
