(Y/n)'s POV

My eyes slowly flutter open, hissing a bit at the harsh sunlight from the open window. My vision slowly focusing, I started looking around the room.

The room appears to be small, and is quite empty. The only thing in the room was the futon I was laying on and a small table with a white lily on it.

Trying to sit up, I wince at the soreness of my body. I looked at my arms and realized that my bruises and cuts were nicely treated. The dirty kimono I was wearing was now changed into soft white clothes.

My ears perked up at the sound of soft foot steps. I got my guard up and tensed as i heard the door slid open, revealing a little girl with a red mask peeking in.

The girl seemed to be surprised at the sight of me which already woke up.

"Ah, y-you're up! I'll alert Ryu-sama right away!" The little girl said nervously and hurried away. Even though the girl didn't seem dangerous, I still kept my guard up.

Not so long after the girl went away, a new red mask appeared. Though this one appeared like an old man.

"So, you're awake. You've been passed out for three days now. I thought you'd wake up sooner." He said in a somewhat mocking tone.

The man looked like he was in his sixties. The red mask he was wearing looked intimidating and he was wearing a white haori with golden dragons in it.

"Im Ryutoku, the owner of this estate and a former dragon pillar." The so called Ryu sat down next to the futon.

"Who are you? Why am i here? What is this place? What happened? wHaT aM i?" I blurted out, the panick slowly increasing.

"Slow down, young girl. You're safe here so there's no need to panick." The former pillar calmly said.

"I believe you are (Y/n) Akayuki, the daughter of the now deceased snow pillar, Fuyuto Akayuki. The Akayuki resident was found without signs of life two days ago, the only survivor was you, who ran away before you got hurt majorly. I've alereted your presence here to the other pillars." He added.

Well that was a lot of information to process at a short period of time. I stared at him with my mouth agape, not wanting to believe what happened was real and was only a bad dream.

"Look, You're still young, but i see plenty of potential in you. If you want, i can train you to become a demon slayer." The former pillar stood up.

"But for now, try to rest and regain energy. I'll tell Rin-chan to get you some food." He then proceeded to go out, leaving me speechless alone in the room.

After a few sorrowful days, I managed to gather the energy to stand up and do actual stuff rather than just lying in bed thinking and about what had happened.

In those days, the old man and Rin-chan visited me often, which I'm happy about. Well, I didn't really enjoy Ryu's company because most of the time he only annoys me. But Rin-chan? God oh almighty, protect her at all costs.

"(Y/n)-chan!" A soft spoke behind me, "Dinner is ready!" I turn around to see Rin-chan softly smiling at me. I then proceeded to stand up and follow the little girl to the dining room.

Once we arrived, I saw Ryu-san already waiting at the table, "Finally, you slow poke." He said in a mocking tone.

"Shut up you old man." You three then ate the delicious dinner at silence. Only the sound of silent chewing and plates clattering were heard.

"It's been more than a week since you started 'living' here, what are you going to do for the future? Im not planning to let you stay here forever y'know." He said, sipping the warm ocha.

"I'm actually considering accepting your offer of becoming a demon slayer." I said, the former pillar only hummed, probably expected that kind of response.

"If you really want that, then we'll start training tomorrow" Is this guy serious? Tomorrow? Even Rin-chan looked shocked. "You can handle that, can't you?" He said mockingly. God, I just want to rip off that smirk i know he's hiding behind that mask.

I sighed, "Fine," I said as I finished my meal. "I'm done with the meal, I'll head off to my room now." I quickly went to my room, ignoring the complaints that i should wash the dishes behind.

Opening the door to my room, I immediately threw my self to the futon, and blacked out.

"(Y/n)-san! Wake up!" I woke up with a groan while someone shook me softly. Eyes still droopy, I managed to sit up. Rubbing my eyes to adjust to the brightness.

"Ryu-sama is already wating outside. Please change into these and good luck!" Rin-chan did a small bow and hurried out of the room. Ah, so it was Rin-chan.

My eyes then fell onto the clothes Rin-chan put next to my futon. It was a full-on black, long sleeved baggy shirt and a pair of training pants.

I then changed my clothes from the white kimono to the training clothes, and surprisingly, it's very comfortable despite how it looks.

I hurried out, and saw the old man already waiting outside, with a large bag beside him.

"Rin-chan packed some of your things, since you blacked out last night. Now, carry this and follow me." He said, and started walking. Is this old man really not going to wait even a second?

I tried to pick up the bag, and hOly shiT it's heavy. I looked at the direction Ryu-san was going and saw that he was already a few meters ahead of me. Grunting, I forced the bag onto my back and started walking.

Finally catching up to the former pillar, we then walked in silence, excluding the curses I muttered throughout the walk.

.*。*゚.+

As the sun was setting, we arrived at a clearing near the top of a mountain. Yes, a mountain. I carried that goddamn bag uP a mOuntAin.

Throwing the bag somewhere I didn't cared, I face planted to the ground and rethinked my life choices.

"Stand up, we're not there yet." The old man said, continuing walking again. God, just end my suffering.

I then compiled, standing up and reaching for the bag. Though not carrying it this time. Instead, I dragged it.

After a few more curses along the way and the sun dissapearing, we stopped in front of an old-yet still in good condition-shack sorounded by trees.

Ryu then granned the bag and carried it with no effort at all and unlocked the door, going inside.

I soon followed after him. The shack wasn't small, but it wasn't big either. It was very clean, surprisingly.

"Rest for now. The training will begin tomorrow." Ryu said, dissapearing into another room. His personality just went 360 from an annoying old man to a serious mature old man. Eh, still an old man.

After unpacking my things and placing them neatly, I rolled out the futon and placed the blanket and pillow, which are already available there.

My muscle ached after all that walking. My body feels so tired, yet I can't bring myself to fall asleep. I couldn't stop thinking about what the future awaits me.

Tomorrow is a new beginning. And unlike that day, I won't run away.
