3. Mondays
|Eleanor Winters|
Ask almost any high school student and they'll tell you; Mondays are the absolute worst. Having to wake up at ungodly hours to attend classes that you'll probably never need in adulthood; it's the epitome of teenage torture. I sighed as I shoved another piece of bagel in my mouth, scrolling through Facebook as I did. Every so often I saw a photo from the party, I gave a like here and there as one did. My Aunt bustled around the kitchen behind me, she was getting ready for work and frantically trying to get my little cousin to eat at the same time. I shot a grin at my little cousin and took an exaggerated bite from my bagel, causing her to laugh and scoop some cereal in her mouth. My aunt shot me an appreciative look as she went to finish making her lunch.
I snorted quietly as a particularly funny photo of Audrey and a couple of people from school popped up on my feed. It looks like a lot of the junior class was at that party, Hunter was in a lot of the photos and I tried really hard not to ogle at him, but damn, I couldn't help myself. I felt my ears get warm as I thought back to the party, being outside on the patio, his face inches from mine-
"Will you be home for dinner tonight?" My aunt's voice brought me out of my thoughts.
I nodded my head as I tried to hide my blush, "Yeah, I'll pick up this little bean," I teasingly ruffled my cousins hair and she giggled in delight, "before dropping her off to dance class, I have a shift at the bookstore though, it's only three hours, but I'll come home for dinner straight after," I promised.
Aunt Vi grinned, "Good, I'll pick up Maisie and we'll get some dinner supplies, I'm making pasta tonight."
Maisie and I shouted in delight, "I'll definitely be hurrying back!" I exclaimed, Aunt Vi made the best pasta sauce ever, it had the perfect amount of meat and flavours... ugh even just thinking about it made my day.
Bzzt, bzzt...
Audrey: I'm here! Are you ready?
I shoved the rest of my bagel in my mouth and downed my orange juice, "Audrey's here! I've got to get going, I'll see you guys tonight!" I exclaimed.
"Have a great day!" Aunt Vi called.
"Bye, bye Ellie!" Maisie giggled.
I quickly kissed my aunt and cousin on the cheeks before grabbing my backpack, jacket, mitts, and rushing outside.
"Hey girl!" Audrey greeted as I got into the car.
"Morning," I chirped back as I pulled my hat lower on my head and zipped up my jacket as a shiver went down my back. It was a lot colder than I anticipated, thank god I decided to pack my scarf in my backpack last night.
"Only a few more weeks until winter break! Aren't you excited?" Audrey exclaimed as she carefully backed out of my driveway and towards the school.
I nodded my head in agreement, "Yes, I can't wait to sit at home, drinking hot chocolate and doing absolutely nothing!" I told her, my mind thinking towards the days of comfort and warmth.
Audrey laughed and nodded her head in agreement, "Yes, that sounds amazing! We will have to have a Christmas movie marathon! I'm sure little Maisie would love to join us!" Audrey loved Maisie just as much as I did, she had been to my aunt's house numerous times since we became friends as freshmen and treated Maisie like a little sister.
