It's like walking on eggshells.
When you woke up last week with your head pounding and barely able to see, you hardly could remember the night before. You were pretty sure it was a dream you had, thinking you made out with Ricky and you guys almost had sex.
It wasn't until later in the day you noticed how weird he was acting that you realized it wasn't a dream and now things were incredibly awkward. When Ricky picked up Chloe that afternoon, he still slept in the same bed as you, but as far as he could possibly get on the edge.
It's... disappointing. Discouraging. Detrimental to your ego... what other D words are there?
You sigh as you sit at your desk in the office, looking down at the paperwork you need to finish up. It's been an easy day today, your guys have managed to get most of the cars in and out of the shop all on their own since you've been busy. You weren't much in the mood for chatter anyway, you feel embarrassed.
You shouldn't have made a move on Ricky, now he'll barely speak to you and he's even slept over at Ryan's! He hasn't done that since you first got married! You're not used to having the apartment to yourself again, although it had been irritating when he'd first moved in, you'd eventually gotten used to it.
Did you ruin everything?
You feel like you did.
You cradle your head in your hands as you stare down at the bills in front of you, not really even seeing them. You're still making payments on the car lift from last year, you need to pay that off fairly soon before you pay double in interest. It's really hard to run a car shop, somehow the bills keep adding up and people want to bitch about how much it costs to fix their cars. Do they think it's easy to lift a three hundred pound motor into a vehicle? Of course you're going to charge labor on top of parts!
Nothing is free!
Even now there's a man outside in the waiting area bitching about the cost of the repair, complaining about how long it's taking and he thought he just had a bent tire! Well, you dumb fuck, you drove on a bad, bent tire for days before noticing, so it screwed more stuff up! You should have told him to go somewhere else for the repair, it's not worth the headache!
You hate rude customers, entitled people who don't get their way and make everyone else miserable. You own a business, you know the customer is always wrong, and you're not going to go out of your way to please them either. You can either fix their car or they can get the fuck out, and that's the end of it. You've always been that way, it's not going to change now.
God, you shouldn't have tried to seduce Ricky.
No matter how much you immerse yourself in paperwork, your mind keeps rolling back around to that topic. You feel humiliated, ridiculous, your cheeks are hot and all you want to do is bury your head in the sand! It wouldn't be so bad if he would just act normal, if he could just pretend it didn't happen and things could go back to how they were! You were content with just being friends, he can stop avoiding you like the plague!
Why are you so stupid?
It's all you can do not to beat your head against the metal desk repeatedly until you knock some sense into yourself.
You need to talk to him about it tonight, before it goes too far. You can't live with him like this until his custody hearing, which still has no definite date yet. You need to clear the air and apologize for how you acted, coming onto him like that with no warning.
Jeez, it's embarrassing.
Your head lifts as the office door suddenly opens, and you blink at the angry man looming in your doorway. He's the guy grouchy about the cost of his repair, and you can see one of your guys behind him, looking peeved. He throws his hands up in frustration before turning on his heel, apparently leaving you to handle the man.
