(Welcome to le remake of le first chapter UwU I'm going to try and make this book more gender friendly so kinda like what you normally do, imagine your pronouns throughout the story. Also, I would like someone to proofread chapters before I post, so if you're interested leave a comment or something, and I'll decide on who or how to do it. Anywho, I don't think I have anything else, so enjoy)

"Dear Frisk, it's been a while since I last saw you. I don't even know if you're alive, or maybe you left because you couldn't handle another day in this orphanage with me.

"It's been hard without you here. I don't think you care, so I'm not sure why I'm writing this letter. I guess it's my last hope. I want to know if you're alive. I want to know if you miss me.

"I'm running out of paper, sorry. Could you call me? With the orphanage phone. I'm going through a lot just to get this paper delivered down a hole, I would come with, but we're not allowed out since you dissapeared."

Quickly writing down the phone number, (Y/n) paused and stared at the letter. Sighing, (Y/n) folded it neatly and stuffed the letter in their jacket pocket. They stood up and stared at a picture of a happy family. (Y/n)'s family. (Y/n)'s dead family.

Staring the photo down, a voice echoed through the halls of the old orphanage. It was a call from Ms. Charles regarding dinner.

(Y/n) left their stuffy room and headed towards the dining hall. The orphanage was too big for the ammount of children actually in it, but seemed too small with the junk filling every corner.

Passing through the hall, (Y/n) heard the main door open, causing loud creaks to fill the building. Looking eagerly to see who might have entered, they saw a female. She seemed 2 years (Y/n)'s senior.

She was a pretty one, with an interesting set of clothing. Her neon green t-shirt was overruled with a black crop top. The same brightness of leggings were bluer than anything (Y/n) has ever seen.

Her brown hair fell just above her waistline, and her green eyes flashed with anger and sadness like most who children who come. Little dots scattered across her olive coloured face, and even though most would think it messy or strange, (Y/n) thought it was the most beautiful thing a person could have.

Feeling their face heat up, they soon remembered they had to hurry to dinner. Prying their eyes away, (Y/n) ran the rest of the way to the dining hall. But no matter how fast they ran, (Y/n) could feel eyes burning on their back.

"Amen!" Ms. Charles concluded, with a satisfying 'tut' at the end. The kids shuffled along the medium sized table as they gathered their food and took a seat.

"Before we eat, I do have an announcement I would like to make!" Mr. Call looked at everyone with the enthusiasm of vampire being dragged to church.

Staring at him expectantly, (Y/n) already knew what the announcement was and so they sat and picked at their food, (least favorite food).

"We have a newcomer. A 15 year old girl by the name of Juliana Aurthur. You all must give her a great first day, for you all k ow how difficult it is to lose your family." He said coldly.

(Y/n) looked up at him and sighed. The only free seat was next to them, and they were worried the new girl would bully them just as Ayanna has done.

After the table murmured some nonsense, the dinner door (as per labels of the kids) opened and in walked Juliana.

Her eyes flashed at everyone before heading towards the empty seat next to (Y/n).

"Hey, (Y/n), don't you even think about being all lovey with the new girl!" A demon herself, Ayanna, hissed in their ear. Rolling their eyes, (Y/n) went back to picking at their food.

Juliana pulled the chair back and sat. She didn't bother getting food, but just stared at (Y/n). Shifting uncomfortably, they glanced at Juliana.

"May I help you?" (Y/n) asked her. Juliana stared for a bit longer before answering.

"Nothing you can do." She stated simply.

"If you say so, Juliana." (Y/n) mumbled and went back to picking at their food.

"Don't call me that." Juliana grumbled. Looking at her carefully, (Y/n) shifted their head to the side and raised their brow.

"Why?" They asked curiously. Juliana shifted away. Deciding not to pry, (Y/n) stood up and collected their plate. Walking out of the room, they took one last glance at the new girl and sighed.

A soft hum emerged from (Y/n)'s throat. They were humming the tune of (favorite song) on their way back to their room.

A ring from the old phone caught their attention. Stopping and staring at the phone, it continued to ring. (Y/n) approached it cautiously before picking up the phone.

"Hello?" They said uncertainly. Fiddling with their clothing, they awaited a reply.

"(Y/n), is that you?" A familiar voice asked from the other side of the old machine.

"Frisk?" (Y/n) replied shakily, "yeah, yeah it's me."

There was a long pause before both of the children started sobbing. Hearing each others voice for the first time in months, the two cried for several minutes before one stopped. Then the other.

"I thought you died." (Y/n) said bluntly. They wiped the tears from their eyes and sighed.

"From the pain I experienced falling down that hole, I wish I did." Frisk chuckled to themselves. "Here I am, however. It's been nice."

"I wrote you a letter I was going to send, but I guess that's useless now." (Y/n) muttered. "How'd you get the number of this place?"

"Alphys agreed to help me find it." Frisk said simply, as if (Y/n) knew who 'Alphys' was.

"Who now?" They asked confused.

"Alphys— oh right, you don't know her. She's one of the monsters down here. The head scientist." Frisk explained briefly. (Y/n) nodded, as if Frisk could see them.

"So monsters do exist." (Y/n) said in more of a statement than a question.

"I guess so!"
