"Dad! I'm leaving for school!!!"
I checked myself one last time in the mirror. I had my hair straightened and a furry brown hat on. I straightened my blue button-up and put on my brown riding boots. Throwing on my bag I walk out of my bedroom and down to the front door
"Virginia, wait!" My dad yells behind me while runs down the stairs. "Here you forgot your textbook." He hands me my AP Bio textbook, which I intentionallly left at home because I hate that class. It's too hard.
"Thanks Dad what would I do without you?"
"You'd probably die." He laughed out. Very funny dad. I turn around to walk out the door to but was stopped by his hand.
"Dad I'm seriously going to be late"
"Virginia, look at me" I looked at him staight in the eyes. He looked very serious no more laughter in them. Oh great he was gonna give me that same speech that he gives me every year. "I want you to come home staright after school. Tonight is Halloween and you know I don't like you out during this time of year. It's dangerous out there for a girl like you, so please let's not be difficult this year."
Okay well I guess now is a better time then ever to ask him. "Dad I understand that you don't like Halloween but Clarke's throwing a halloween party at her house and everyone's gonna be there and I really wanna go too. "
"No Virginia."
"But she's my best friend and you've met her she's a good girl."
"I said no Virginia!" He yelled. My dad never yells.
"Okay Dad I'll see you after school"
"Viginia I'm-" I slammed the door in his face. I hate when he gets like this.

"Virginia!" I turn around and I see my best friend Clarke running towards me. Well I wouldn' call it running more like prancing that's all she can do in those heels of her. "So I was thinking that maybe we could get ready at my place right after school so we can make sure everythings ready for the party."
"Yeah about that..."
"Virginia Elizabeth Choi! You said your Dad would be cool with it this year."
"No I said he might be cool with. Emphasis on the might." Clarke stared at me with those puppy dog eyes that always get to me. "No no no Clarke don't stare at me like that! He already said no."
"Well what he doesn't know won't kill him." Clake said with her now evil eyes.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean what if you just sneak out." She said like it was so easy. She doesn't understand how my dad gets during this holiday. Every year he locks me in the cellar and doesn't let me out until dawn the next day. He's done it for as long as I can remember and the only person I've ever told is Clarke.
"There's no way I can get out of that cellar Clarke. The whole point of the cellar is so I can't get out." I said like it was the most obvious thing in the world, but the way that Clarke was looking at me made me think otherwise. "Right Clarke?"
"Just make sure you have a costume and I'll deal with the rest." She smiled and then walked away to her class.
What is she hiding from me?
