Kirby turned to look at Krumb "What?" The two had met up by Stark's Pond from a text from Krumb 'Come to the pond' was all it said, Kirby hadn't expected this.
"I want you to work with me" He repeated, kicking his legs on the rusty old bench that still remained beside the pond. Kirby's eyes widened, "I-I need you to work with me."
"..Krumb we both know th-that I can't-Abi-" Krumb turned to her and his gaze was full of hurt and pain. He would've been crying if the air wasn't so chill. Kirby slouched slowly as she gazed at him.
"Kitts. I told her I loved and she-she outright laughed!" His hands balled up. "She laughed at me holding my heart out for her and crushed it under her feet!" He gritted his teeth, before grabbing some snow in his hands and just throwing it out in the pond. The snow fell into the pond and just drifted apart remaining on the surface. He'd slump back against the bench, letting the silence fade in. Kirby looked at her hands on her lap, sighing to herself. Her breath drifted up in a smoky puff.
Krumb pushed the heels of his hands into his eyes, rubbing at his eyelids. He opened his mouth to speak but couldn't. The knot in his stomach pushed against his throat like it was trying to choke him. He broke it with a sob and tried to hide in his hands. Kirby looked over, watching her friend crumble onto himself.
"Why me?" She muttered her voice low, her blonde hair had went over her face, her nose and ear tips red from the cold. Krumb rubbed his sleeve and mouth over his nose before looking up to her.
"I can..can only trust you, Kirby." Krumb gazed at the greenish blue eyed girl. "Drey and Kitts hate me, Vamp doesn't even talk to me. We both know Thic cares but...yeah." He'd sigh, pulling his knees up to his arms and wrapping them around. "And Abi...well she hates me." Kirby looked over to the boy in surprised."Why would Abi hate you? She loves everyone-" Krumb let out a laugh, looking over to Kirby. His eyes looked dead, and she could feel in them a sense of wrong. It felt as she stared into them, she could see her own demise.
"You really are that stupid?" His voice held disbelief, eyes widening. Kirby shifted away from him, confused. She'd look at his eyes, head tilting.
"What do you mean?" Krumb shook his head, looking away from her. She stared at him for another moment of silence, before sighing. "I- I'm in." Krumb's head snapped over to her, mouth opening. A grin grew over his face and he'd pull her into a hug.
"Thank you thank you- oh my god- Kirby!" He'd laugh, and Kirby slowly returned the hug. She ignored the gnawing in her chest and looked out over the pond. The hug ended after a few more moments, and she'd look into Krumb's confident eyes.
"So...what's the plan?" Krumb grinned, staring at her. He'd hop up, shuddering at the sudden chill.
"You need Toolshed." He spoke simply, shoving his hands into his hoodie pockets. Kirby blinked.
"Toolshed? Why Toolshed?" Krumb gleamed in the attention.
"Where else are we to get weapons?" He'd snark, tapping his foot in the snow. Kirby made a confused noise.
"I thought you said you didn't want her apa-" Krumb cut her off with a sly grin."Of course, that's why you're doing it. She hates me, afterall. You are gonna be the one to get me machines and tools from her!" His grin faltered as he saw Kirby's distraught face. Kirby looked down at her hands again. She didn't want Abi apart of this-but Krumb was her friend, she had agreed to it. She nodded, looking up to meet him again.
Krumb held out a hand and Kirby took it, he'd pull her up and tightened his hand into hers. His eyes scrunched with glee and Kirby slowly returned a more hesitant smile. The sun had started to rise, and from Kirby's view, it looked like Krumb was blazing in the flames. Maybe he was.
