Haneul's POV:

It had been three weeks since Rocky's passing. Yeonjun had insisted me too much to try to go to school so I could maybe keep my mind busy and distract myself from the pain, so I accepted. I really didn't want to go, I barely slept with all the nightmares I had and my lack of motivation was extreme.

I took a shower and lazily walked downstairs wearing my uniform. Yeonjun was leaning against the door, scrolling down his phone as he waited for me. As soon as he felt my footsteps, he looked up and smiled.

"I'm glad you decided to try" He said, lifting his hand and stroking my head gently, thing that was becoming usual in him.

I faked a smile, grabbing my backpack and placing it on my shoulder. Yeonjun opened the door for us, and let me out first, closing the door behind us right after. It was cold and windy outside, but we still decided to walk to school together.

We kept quiet for a while. I stared at him, he looked ahead as he walked with his hands in his pockets. His nose was slightly red, and whenever he exhaled a light cloud of breath appeared.

"Are you okay with this?" He asked, turning his head to look at me.

I shrugged.

"I guess I won't die for trying"

He smiled.

"You'll be okay"

"I'm just doing this because you said you had something for me"

"I see interest makes the world turn" He chuckled.

Deep down, the reason why I accepted to go, was because I wanted to do something for him in return. Yeonjun had been worrying about me and taking care of me too much and all he got from me was a harsh treatment. I felt bad for the way I had treated him. He wanted to see me trying to live, and I just wanted to please him somehow.

A few moments later, we had arrived. I walked to my locker, starting to feel the anxiety increasing inside of me. When I grabbed my books, a loud, high pitched voice startled me.

"Yeonjun!"

"Hey, Wendy"

I turned my head to look at the girl he was talking to. I didn't remember knowing her, so I kept my mouth shut. She was pretty, and it was more than obvious that she was into Yeonjun.

"I was wondering... Do you think we could study today after class? Remember I told you I'd help you out with your homework"

She looked at him with sparkly eyes and rosy cheeks. She kept fidgeting her fingers nervously, and biting the inside of her cheek. I diverted my gaze to Yeonjun, who scratched the back of his neck, and gave me a quick glance before he looked at her again.

"Uh, sure. Thank you" He smiled warmly. "Oh, this is Haneul"

I smiled at her, and she smiled back, but her smile wasn't authenthic, and anyone could've told.

"I'm Wendy" She said, looking at me from head to toe "Oh, you're the girl that had an accident, right? I heard you lost your boyfriend. I'm sorry for your loss" She added, placing her hand on my shoulder.

The way she talked about such a sensitive topic felt like knives and made my stomach turn upside down.

"Yeah, thanks"

"It's good to see you can continue with your life quickly. You must be really strong"

I was about to speak when Yeonjun interrupted.

"Eh, yeah, excuse us Wendy, I'm going to take her to class. I'll see you later"

"It's okay, I'll be waiting!" She said, waving goodbye. Yeonjun placed his arm around my shoulders and started to walk. However, I managed to see the way she was glaring at me as soon as we left.
