On the clearest of nights, when the winds of the Etherium were calm and peaceful.
A large and beautiful golden cruise ship, with beautiful golden sails, slowly and calmly sails in the night sky as it quietly creaks.
The great merchant ships with their cargos of Acrurian sura crystals felt safe and secure. Little did they expect that they were pursued by,
A smaller ship, with eerie red sails, then sailed quickly and closely behind the golden sailed ship, bearing a flag with a three-eyed skull with fangs.
Pirates
One pirate stood on the quarterdeck crossing his arms while looking at the golden ship.
And the most feared of all these pirates, was the notorious Captain Nathaniel Flint.
Flint then turned around and yelled "Fire!"
The canons on Flint's ship then started to fire on the golden ship as the passengers gasped in fear.
As the two ships fired on each other, a young boy's head and a young girl's head slowly pops up. Their eyes filled with amazement and smiles spread across their faces. The boy and girl layed on their stomachs huddled next to each other as the boy held one side of the book and the girl held the other side. The two were swinging their feet in the air as the book continued its narration.
Like a Candarian zap-wing overtaking its prey--
All of a sudden the door creaked open letting light illuminate the room as a woman yelled out "James Pleiades Hawkins and Ray Michelle Ackerman!"
Ray and Jim quickly closed the book, ending the narration and put their chin in their hands, while looking forward with a small guilty smile on their face.
"I thought you two were asleep an hour ago" the woman said as she placed her hands on her hips.
"Mom, we were just getting to the best part" Jim said as he crawled back to the pillow and pulled the book into his hands.
"He's right, we are almost at our favorite part Sarah" Ray said as she crawled to Jim and sat down next to him.
"Please?" the two begged the woman as they used their best puppy dog eyes.
"Oh, can those eyes get any bigger?" Jim's mother said as she sighed and slided into the bed, "Scootch over."
Jim and Ray then smiled widely and opened the book to where they left off.
Like a Candarian zap-wing overtaking its prey, Flint and his band of renegades, swooped in out of nowhere.
The holograms of the book show the pirates forcefully boarding the golden ship and attacking the passengers. Flint then uses his sword to slice off a lock on a treasure chest and tilts it over making it spill out all kinds of gold and jewels. Flint then laughs as he picks up the treasure in both of his hands.
And then, gathering up their spoils,
Flint's ship then starts to sail away and then all of a sudden it vanishes in to thin air leaving the once beautiful golden ship for dead.
Vanished without a trace.
"Ooh!" Jim, Ray, and Sarah responded while looking at each other. Jim then eagerly turns the page and he and Ray smile widely as the narration continues.
Flint's secret trove was never found, but stories have persisted that it remains hidden, somewhere at the farthest reaches of the galaxy, stowed with riches beyond imagination, the loot of a thousand worlds.
"Treasure Planet!" the young boy and girl exclaim with the narrator.
"Okay" Sarah said as she closed the book, "Blow your nose." She then pulled a tissue out of her pocket and held it to the boy's nose. Jim blew his nose into the tissue and sniffled as the woman put the tissue away and put the book on the dresser.
"How do you think Captain Flint did it, Mom?" Jim asked as he climbed to the top of the headboard of the bed, "How'd he swoop in out of nowhere and vanished without a trace?" he said as he jumped off the bed landing on his stomach and then crawling under the blanket.
"He must have known some magic" Ray said as she pretended to wave a wand around.
"I have no idea" Sarah said as she slid closer to the two young kids. "Come here, you, you li--" she said as she grabed both kids by their feet as they squeal. The woman starts ticking them both as the two young kids laugh. "I'm gonna get --oh!" Sarah said as she blew a rasberry into both of the young kid's stomachs. Jim and Ray laugh even more as Sarah smiles at them.
"Okay, now it's time for these little spacers to go to sleep" Sarah said as she layed their heads down on the pillow and tucked them in.
"You think somebody'll ever find Treasure Planet?" Jim asked as the woman reached behind the pillow.
"If they did they would be super rich and cool" Ray said with excitement.
"Sweethearts," Sarah starts as she pulls a squeaky toy out from behind the pillow, "I think it's more like a legend." she finishes and then she places the toy on the dresser.
"We know it's real" Jim said with confidence.
"You two win. It's real," Sarah said and then she kissed both Jim and Ray on their foreheads.
"Nighty-night, Mom" Jim said.
"Nighty-night Sarah" Ray said.
"Nighty-night, sweethearts" Sarah said as she walked towards the door. "Love you two" she said as she grabbed the door handle.
"Love you, too." Ray and Jim answered as the woman closed the door.
After the door is closed Jim gets up again, grabs the book and shows it to Ray and the two watched in amazement and awe as the narrator continued.
There are nights when the winds of the Etherium, so inviting in their promise of flight and freedom
Made one's spirit.................Soar!
