Later in the day after the Benbow had closed for the day Jim sat on the roof tossing pebbles in boredom. He then sighed as he leaned his head against the window paine as he listened to his mother and Ray talk to Delbert.
"I really don't know how you manage it Sarah. Trying to run a business while trying to raise a felon like...felon... fellow...fellow like Jim" Delbert says as Sarah and Ray continue to clean up the inn.
"Managing it? I'm at the end of my rope. If it weren't for Ray, I'm sure this place would be filled with chaos. Ever since his father left, well, Jim's just never recovered" Sarah replied sadly "And you know how smart he is. He built his first solar surfer when he was eight! And yet, he's failing at school, he is constantly in trouble, and when I talk to him, he's like a stranger to me" she finishes as she places her hand on her forehead.
"I've tried to help him as much as I can Sarah, but it has also been hard because I have to focus on school. But I hope I can help him get off of this path he is going down" Ray said as she walked up to Sarah.
Jim placed his hand on the glass window as he watched Ray comfort his mother. 'you do help me. You just don't know it yet' Jim thought to himself as he sighed and looked away from the window.
'Maybe I should confess my feelings to her, she did say that she thinks I'm cute' Jim thought hopefully, but then he remembered the events that happened that day and how Ray looked so disappointed in him. 'Or maybe not. She's so beautiful, kind, and ugh she could never love a loser like me' he thought as he sighed.
"Thank you Ray, I appreciate your help everyday" Sarah said to the young girl. She then turned to Delbert and said "I don't know, Delbert. I've tried everything-"
Before Jim could hear the rest of what his mother was gonna say, he suddenly sees a ship sputtering and smoking as it crashed onto a platform. Jim quickly slid down the roof and ran to the ship.
"Hey mister? Hey mister you okay in there right?" Jim said out loud as he knocked on the ship's window.
Jim then lets out a startled yelp as he hears a growl and a claw appears on the other side of the window. He then backs up as a treasure chest and a salamander, coughing from the smoke, falls out of the window.
The salamander then grabs Jim's shirt, pulling him closer saying "He's a-comin' Can you hear him?" as he looks into the sky. "Those gears and gyros clickin' and whirrin' like the devil himself!" he continues as his neck stretches out getting closer to Jim's face.
The salamander then lets go of Jim's shirt and moves back to the ship
"Uh, hit your head there pretty hard, didn't ya?" Jim askes as he pressed to fingers to his forehead.
"He's after me chest, that fiendish cyborg and his band of cutthroats" the salamander says as he grabs the chest protectively. His voice then strains as he puts the chest onto his shoulder. "But they'll have to pry it from old Billy Bones' cold dead fingers before I-...Argh!" he said before he then grabbed his throat and collapsed to the ground while violently coughing and clutching the chest.
"Oh, my..." Jim starts to say as he gets closer to the salamander, "Come on, give me your arm" he says as he puts the salamander's arm around his shoulders supporting him and grabbing the chest by the handle.
"That's it" he says as he helps the salamander stand up. "Good lad" the salamander mumbles tiredly as the two start walking towards the Benbow.
"Mom's gonna love this" Jim said sarcasticlly as thunder is heard in the distance and rain starts to fall.
...
In the Benbow raindrops are seen running down the windows, then the windows change to a tropical island sunset setting. Then Sarah changes it to a meadow full of flowers by pulling a lever that was next to the window.
