"You coming baby?" My best friend, Dallas, asked.
"Right being you, Dal," I smiled grabbing his hand.
Dally pulled me away from the 2 thugs he'd just beat the tar out of for trying to touch me. That was the thing about Dallas Winston, nobody ever dared to put their hands on me without having to face Dally.
Dally pulled me into a small diner and we got a Strawberry shake with 2 straws, "Ryan, I gotta tell you something," Dally sighed.
"What's wrong, Dally?" I asked noticing the change in his tone.
"The old man is moving us to some town in Oklahoma," he sighed.
"When?" I asked.
"We're leaving in the morning "
"How long have you known?"
"Couple weeks."
"Why didn't you tell me, Dallas?" I asked, my voice slightly raising. I didn't miss the flinch either when I called him Dallas.
"You know I hate when you call me that, baby girl," he said.
"Don't aviod the question," I growled.
"I couldn't stand to make you upset," he answered.
"So stay with me," I said.
"You know I can't, I'll see you again. I promise. We can write, I'll call, everything," he promised.
"Then atleast let me stay with you tonight?" I asked.
Dally smiled,"of course, baby girl."
We drank our shake then left the diner. Dally lived on the otherside of town from the diner, so we started walking back to his place. Dally lit a cigarette then handed it to me, then lit one for himself. After he'd put his smokes back he grabbed my hand and we walked back to him and his dad's apartment.
When we got there we went straight to Dally's room and curled up in his bed. We laid down with my head on his chest and him running his fingers through my hair. Dally can be really tough, but when it's me he's the sweetest guy around. Soon we both fell asleep.
Dally woke me up early early the next morning,"Come on baby girl, I wanna show you something," Dally said.
I untangled myself from Dally and set up seeing it was still dark out,"what time is it?" I asked.
"Just before dawn," he said.
"Then why are we up? I was sleeping good," I said.
"I told you, I wanna show you something," he smiled.
"Okay," I said.
Dally gave me a hoodie and we crawled out the window to the fire escape. Dally sat down and pulled me into his lap. I sat down and curled into his chest.
"What are we looking at?" I asked as the sun started to rise.
"The sunrise. When you miss me I want you to crawl out onto your fire escape and watch it," he said.
I looked up at him,"guess I'll always be watching the sunrise then."
"Me too," he smiled down at me.
"Dally, I want you to take something of mine," I said.
"Ryan, I didn't think you'd give me that," he smirked.
"Not that, Dallas," I laughed. I pulled my necklace off from around my neck and turned around so I was straddling his lap,"this was the first thing I'd ever stole, you were with me that day. When you miss me I want you to hold it in your hand and think of me," I said sliding it over his head.
Dally smiled and took one of the skull head rings he stole off his finger and slide it on my middle finger,"you make me soft, girl."
"I wish I could go with you," I said tears leaving my eyes.
"Don't cry baby girl, please," Dally said wiping my eyes with his thumb.
"Promise to call and write, please?" I said.
"I promise," he said.
"Don't forget me," I said.
"Never, baby," he smiled and kissed my forehead.
They were getting ready to leave, Dally pulled me into a tight hug,"remember what I said. I love you, Dal," I said.
"You too. I love you, baby girl," Dally smiled and kissed my forehead.
When we pulled away he got in the car and they left. Dally called everyday and wrote as much as he could. I watched the sunrise every single day.
