Claustrophobia

There was a time when I was little...

when somebody had locked me in a closet.

That's when my claustrophobia started...

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP-

"ATTENTION ALL UA STUDENTS, PLEASE EVACUATE THE FACILITY IMMEDIATELY. ATTENTION ALL UA STUDENTS-"

"What's going on?" I asked, blinking in confusion as the alarms started to go off.

"Sounds like there was an accident," Uraraka replied, standing up.

"Here, in UA? Really?" Todoroki pushed himself off the wall, giving her a questioning look.

"We should proceed to the evacuation area immediately!" Iida exclaimed, waving his arms towards the door.

"It might be just a drill," Asui suggested, hopping over to the door. The five of us were in a private room at UA's library, studying. Asui grabbed the door handle, and tried to open it.

"Uh… guys?" She tried again, nervously, "I think it's locked."

"What?!" Uraraka exclaimed, her eyes widening. Todoroki walked over, and tugged on the door handle himself.

"She's right, it's locked." He stated, backing up.

"W-we could try busting it down?" I suggested, becoming increasingly nervous as I backed up a little.

"ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Iida exclaimed, making a clapping motion towards me, "WE WILL NOT DAMAGE ANY OF THE SCHOOL PROPERTY!"

"Well, how else do we get help?" Asui asked.

"We should wait for the teachers to come looking for us," Todoroki replied.

I backed up, until I hit the wall, as the two girls agreed to that. My heart began to pound, and I started to sweat. I began to hyperventilate.

"Deku? Are you okay?" Uraraka asked, sounding worried. I didn't answer, just slid down the wall until I was on the floor.

"Midoriya! Are you alright?!" Iida rushed over, kneeling next to me. I could barely speak at this point. My breaths were coming out in short puffs, and I felt as if my heart was about to burst out of my chest. Everyone gathering around me wasn't helping.

Todoroki seemed to notice them, and pulled the others back, "Back up, I think we're suffocating him."

"Deku?..." Uraraka asked worriedly.

"Hmm… Midoriya… are you claustrophobic?" Asui asked, tilting her head slightly. I was just barely able to nod a yes to her question.

"Now that I think about it… Midoriya has always been calmer in outdoor places," Iida said.

The door opened suddenly, and teachers came in. Aizawa, Mic, and Midnight.

"Is everyone okay?!" Aizawa demanded.

"Midoriya needs to get outside," Todoroki stated, offering a hand. He helped me stand, and now that the door was open I was feeling a little better.

"I-I'm okay…" I mumbled, as my breathing started to slow down.

The teachers questioned my friends on what had happened, and they explained while we went outside.

"It sounds like he had a panic attack," Midnight stated, as we reached the outdoors. I sighed in relief, and flopped on the grass, laying there and breathing heavily as I calmed down. More yelling filled the air, as my classmates appeared, all trying to question us. I started to panic again as they surrounded us.

"Oi! Your suffocating them, dumbasses!" I heard Kacchan yell.

"Since when did you care?" Jiro asked.

"I don't," he retorted, "but unless you want fucking Deku to start freaking out again-"

"BAKUGO! THAT IS EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL TOWARDS MIDORIYA!" Iida yelled.

"I DIDN'T ASK YOU, STUPID FOUR EYES!" Kacchan yelled back.

Aizawa sighed as they started arguing, and Todoroki helped me stand up.

We went back to our study session, but in the dorms this time, in Iida's room.

"Hey, Midoriya, this may seem rude, but why are you claustrophobic?" Asui asked suddenly. I flinched a little at the question. "You don't have to answer if you're uncomfortable," she added quickly.

"No… It's fine," I replied, "I'm just a little sensitive about the topic… um…"

"Again, you don't have to tell-"

"I said already, it's fine Asu- Tsu, sorry…" I sat back, "There was a time when I was little… before my father had left…"

"Papa! Let go of me! Ow!" I was about five years old, and I had done something to make him angry. I don't remember what it was though. He had grabbed me by my hair and dragged me away. Mom was visiting a friend at the time.

"Little bitch," he hissed at me, before shoving me into the broom closet and locking the door. I remember I was crying for hours, until mom finally came home and found me there. She started yelling at dad, I remember eating in the kitchen while she did. After that, being in enclosed spaces scared me. The doctor said I was claustrophobic.

I blinked when I realized my friends looked on the verge of crying.

Uraraka and Asui tackled me into a hug, starting to cry. Iida joined us, sniffling. Todoroki blinked, but stayed back.

”GET OVER HERE TODOROKI!” Uraraka yelled, grabbing his arm. He yelped a little as he was pulled over, and sighed, before joining the hug.

”G-guys, sh-shouldn’t we be studying?” I asked nervously, gently pulling away from the hug.

”RIGHT!” Iida exclaimed, cleaning his glasses quickly and crossing his arms, “WE CAN HUG LATER!”

So, we went back to studying, although Uraraka an Asui were still sniffling.
