Three years later
Since the events of her parents' deaths, Anna had moved on. It had taken her days to, but Jack's words rang in her mind, waking her up. He was right. Her parents wouldn't want her to mourn for them forever and wanted her to continue on with her life.
Her life went by as normal. Elsa continued to shut her out and Jack visited when he could, giving her endless hours of fun. Gerda had become like a guardian for them. Elsa was of age, but she rarely went out. They did hire Kristoff. A buff man who helped with most heavy lifting and cleared out the stables. Anna found him good company sometimes and they were on some kind of neutral friendship.
Jack had told Anna there was a way they could be together, but he never went into full details and told her he'd tell her when she was ready. Currently she was eighteen and graduation was just around the corner. Maybe he'd tell her then.*
On a nice warm sunny Saturday morning, Anna sat on one of the stable fences and watched as Kristoff carried some hay bells. His shirt was off, exposing his muscles underneath. Anna didn't seem to mind them.
"Enjoying the show, princess?" He asked.
"I'm just passing the time and you're the only other interesting one to talk to." She replied blankly.
Kristoff threw the last hay bell and raised an eyebrow oddly. "What about that mysterious friend of yours that no one seems to ever see except you?"
She wasn't expecting Jack to visit around now. It was summer and he wasn't a huge fan of heat. Sometimes he'd make an exception, but she didn't count on them.
"He's not here. He's elsewhere." Anna shrugged. Who knew where he was when he wasn't with her? He just followed the winter.
The blonde man wiped his sweat off with a cloth and then threw his shirt on. "Can't you Skype him or something?"
"If I could I would, but I can't."
"Why not?"
"It's complicated." It wasn't, but she couldn't exactly say that he was a winter spirit who was only seen by those who believed. He wouldn't understand. Kristoff was too mature for that.
"Since I'm probably stuck with your company till I bore you out, maybe you want to go riding?"
Anna jumped off her current seat and smirked. "I don't need an invitation to ride my own horse." She giggled, walking over to her own horse. He was white, with a black and white mane. Anna stroked her horse and looked at Kristoff.*
Kristoff had his own horse, Sven, and both the two rode off into the fields. The summer breeze cooled them both and Anna felt no worries whatsoever.
Little did she expect that a certain winter spirit was on his way to visit his best friend.*
Anna was not at her house and if she wasn't there, then the only other place was the fields. Jack flew to the fields and frowned when he did find her. She was with someone else. Another guy. But Anna wouldn't do that without telling him. Would she?
The other guy was big and strong, more manly then he was. It may have been selfish of him to want to keep Anna to himself, but he never leant how to deal with this situation. The guy hopped off his horse and walked over to Anna.*
Her foot was caught in her saddle. Anna groaned. Way to ruin the moment. "It seems I'm stuck." Anna said sheepishly as she kicked her foot from the stirrup thread.
"Here." Kristoff offered and hopped off his horse. He looked down at her foot and took it out, but suddenly slipped on something and accidentally pulled Anna off.
"WOAH!" Anna exclaimed as she was pulled off her horse and fell on top of Kristoff. Anna noticed the ice and only one person could do that this time of year. She was surprised he was here, but was now really the time. She quickly got off Kristoff.
"This is awkward. Not that you're awkward. I'm awkward." She said as he took her hand and pulled her back up.
"Don't worry, Anna. It was an accident. They happen." He shrugged.
Anna nodded and smiled awkwardly. "And I better go." She announced. "I...I just realised I had to be...do something." It may have sounded like she was avoiding him, but that wasn't the case. She needed to talk down a certain friend of hers.
Kristoff nodded understandingly. "Okay then." He smirked shaking his head in amusement. "I'll just bring these two back to the stables." He announced.
"Okay. You do that. I'll be...where I have to be." Anna said and ran off, following the frost trail. It should lead her to Jack.*
His eyes widened when he saw her approaching. Anna looked pretty annoyed. Figures she'd discover it was him. Who else could make it frost in the summer? Neither of them knew anyone else who could.
"JACK FROST!" She said angrily.
Anna had never used that voice before and he had to admit he was scared. "H-hey." He said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his hair.
"Don't play cute. I know it was you who made Kristoff and I fall." She stopped in front of him, her arms crossed.
"Kristoff? So that's your new boyfriend's name?" He raised an eyebrow, keeping a straight face.
Anna's face went red and her eyes widened. "He's not my...we're not..." She stuttered. How was it he knew how to throw her off guard?
"He isn't?" Jack now looked at her confused. A bit of guilt crawling up him.
"No!" Anna shook her head. "He just works in the stables. All he did was give me company." She explained.
"And you two didn't..."
Anna looked at him confused and then realised what he meant. "Woah...we never did. All he did was help me because I got stuck."
She noticed the look he was giving her. Jack looked confused and wide eyed. Suddenly the gears in her head clicked. "Wait a minute? Is Jack Frost jealous?" She smirked.
It was Jack's turn to decline. "No I'm not!"
"Oh yes you are." Anna grinned. "You're jelly, jelly, jelly on toast." She sang.
"Stop that!" He frowned like a stubborn child. "I'm not jelly on toast."
"Please. Why else would you sabotage me hanging out with another guy? You're jealous."
"Fine!" He gave in. "I was jealous. You happy?"
Anna calmed down and placed a hand on his cheek and then kissed the other. "I'm happy you're being honest. And just so you know, I'd never see a guy the same way I see you." She smiled.
Seeing her smile, made Jack feel better. Of course she wouldn't abandon him like that. But if she did, he should understand. He couldn't be there for her, unless she agreed to what he had to ask her. He also wasn't always around and knew how lonely she could get around here.
"You're still coming to my graduation next week?" She asked.
"Wouldn't miss it." He smirked.
A gust of hot wind blew and Jack suddenly became dizzy. Anna knew how summer was on him. "How about we get inside?" Anna said and rushed to his side.
"I'm fine though." He assured and gave a small smile.
Anna rolled her eyes. "I know. But any longer out here and you won't be." She stayed beside him and walked back together to the house.
