It'd been two weeks since I'd gotten my job at the palace and I thought everything was going pretty well! Gwendolyn, Erin, Clarice and I were all trained in the royal kitchens by now. I also was startng to get a good understanding of the palace grounds and its complicated directions. I was slowly easying into my new way of life. Even though I had to be a woman most of the time, I didn't mind it too much. As long as I got to bake everyday, I was happy.

But then one night I got hit with magic karma which got me into a large, unforgiving headache. It all started out in kitchens when the head chef, who's name is Chef Klaus, gave us all an announcement.

"Alright people. Tonight is a very important night for the royal family and we need to prepare the perfect ensemble of desserts." Erin raised her hand after his words. He looked down upon her.

"Yes, Toris, what is it?"

"What's the special occasion that were baking for?" She asked.

"It's simply a royal ball for the nobles. Now enough with this chatter! Let's get moving, people!"

At his comand, we all began baking our best. I was working in the cake department so I was baking several cakes of different sizes, flavors, and colors. This was what I did for the next hour but I wasn't complaining.

I had just finished what had to have been my fourth cake and went to place it on the cart. It had other desserts on it as well as cakes. I saw some of Clarice's eclairs and Gwendolyn's macarons on the cart. As I went to turn back to my station, Chef Klaus stopped me.

"Calavas! Can you go deliver the pastries to the ballroom? Flynn went to use the bathroom and we have to keep the tables filled." I nodded my head.

"Yes, Sir. I can go." I grabbed onto the the cart's handles and began pushing it out of the kitchen.

I had to go through a couple hallways and rooms to get to the ballroom. It isn't terribly far from the kitchens but it did take a while to get there. You have to go slow, otherwise you risk dropping the desserts. As I rounded the final corner, I could hear a mumble of voices. I entered into the ballroom with the cart and gazed in awe at everything. I'd never actually seen the ballroom when it was all lit up. The chandeliers above had thousands of white candles burning. The candles were glowing so much that they made the room seem even more golden than it actually was. I slowly wheeled the cart over to the table of sweets, redirecting my attention. As I placed down the goods into the correct places, I couldn't help but notice that nobody was actually dancing. I thought this was a ball and that the nobles were supposed to be dancing to celebrate something.

Maybe they've already been dancing and all took a break to eat and mingle? No wonder the desserts are disappearing so fast. I thought as I continued to organize the sweets.

Once the cart was empty, I hurried to the front of the table to see if everything looked alright. Before I could even look down the whole table, I was suddenly beamed in the back of the head with some big, blunt object. Holding in my yelp, I quickly whipped around to see a bouquet of red roses laying on the floor. Confused, I bent down and picked them up.

"Who the hell.. threw roses at me?!" I said aloud. Immediately after I picked up the bouquet I was surrounded by maids, their faces riddled with unamused glares. They then started to pull and shove me out of the ballroom and into a small space with mirrors. I had no idea what was going on. I tried to fight back but the group was overpowering. So overpowering that I barely even had time to look at myself because my vision was blinded by them. I felt several hands pulling on my clothes, face and hair. I wasn't even able to speak out against them. They didn't listen.

Finally I was able to see. I stared gaping at my reflection in the mirrors. What had they done to me?! I was no longer covered in flour, batter and frosting. They'd washed it all off and replaced it with makeup. My apron and work dress had vanished too. I was now wearing an elegant emerald gown adorned with dark green flowers. My fingertips fell around my waist where thin golden belt was tied. I tried to take a step forward to leave but nearly tripped over my own feet. My flat shoes were missing and I was now walking around in high heels. I stammered out nonsense and glanced from woman to woman for I had no idea what had happened. I went to ask one of the maids why the hell they did this to me but I was stopped. They all surrounded me again and lead me back outside. The group placed me into the center of the ballroom. I swiftly peered around, tottering side to side because of my stupid shoes. I was alone out on the ballroom dance floor with a gigantic crowd of nobles trapping me. I didn't dare move for more than one reason.
