He came late at around 11:45 pm from office. There was silence in the house.

'May be all slept', he thought.

He went to kitchen and found nothing. He didn't had dinner and was actually hungry, but there was no cooked food in the kitchen.

He opened the refrigerator and found the food. 'May be Sitamaa kept for me, as always', he thought. Sita is the housemaid who took care of Eklavya like a mother. Hence he calls her Sitamaa and so does Priya and Priyank. (A/N: maa means mother in Hindi)

After he is done with eating his food, he saw the light of his father's room still on. There is no possibility that his father is awake as he went to USA for the conference this morning and will not be back before noon, then

Who's awake?

Is Mom awake?

Why she's awake till late night?

For a moment, he thought that may she is awake for him, which isn't true.

He then remember that he has to ask her something important.

Since she's awake, he can ask her.
Isn't it?

He proceeded towards her room. He saw it slighlty open. He can see Reena sitting on the armchair. He can make out that she's in deep thinking.

Should he disturb her?

It's already passed 12. He shouldn't distrub her at this hour. Let her rest. He can talk tomorrow and he turned back, when he heard,''Who's this?''

He hesitated first to reply, but when she asked again, he turned back towards door and replied,
''It's me, Eklavya.''

Reena didn't say anything.
''I wanted to ask you something.'' Eklavya further said.

She didn't utter a word.
''It's important.''

She still didn't replied, so Eklavya thought that may be she don't want to talk now. He was disappointed and was about to go to his room, when he heard,
''What you want to talk about?''

He turned back to see Reena standing near the door.
''Since I had said Yes to this marriage, I want to know if they know about me?'' Eklavya asked.

''What they should know about you?'' Reena questioned.

''The truth about me.'' Eklavya said hesitantly.

''What truth about you?'' Reena asked curiously.

He kept quite and bowed his head down. Looking at him, she understood what he wants to say.

''Are you talking about the truth that you're not my son?'' Reena asked.

He looked up but couldn't see in her eyes.

''The truth is so bitter that you can't even look into my eyes. But it won't change the fact that you are not my biological son. You are adopted by me. I am not your mother and will never be. You are not actually part of my family. You're just a homeless child that was accepted and given name by this family. Don't worry Eklavya, the entire world knows the truth that you aren't my son and you are adopted.''
Reena said emphasizing the last sentence.

It was more a like that someone stabbed Eklavya's heart. Here it was Reena who never loved Eklavya because he isn't her biological son and on the other side, Eklavya always considered her as his mother. He always called her Mom, but she always told him to stop calling her that. At one time, she got tired and stopped telling him. She stopped responding him, when he called her mom. Eklavya still calls her mom, no matter how much she ignores.

By this time, Eklavya was about to cry. He tried to look away but couldn't stop any longer there and rushed to his room without uttering a word to Reena. He closed the door and sat down turning his back towards door.
He cried, cried and cried his heart out. He was tried, trying to be perfect son for Reena who never cared to call him as son. He may not be her biological son, but she should have accepted her as her son even though he's adopted.

What was his mistake?

That he wasn't Reena's biological son. Is it?

He wasn't accepted by anyone in the family except his father who brought him in this house when he was five and his younger sister who loved him without caring about the fact that he isn't her brother. Priyank never hated Eklavya nor he liked him. He sometimes felt insecure around Eklavya. Looking at how Priya loves him, Priyank always felt bad but deep down he knew that his mother will never accept him, so he was always relieved.

The taunts of Reena always used to have effect on Eklavya but then he got used to it. Reena always try to break Eklavya but she never suceeded. Eklavya was tough enough to manage everything. He had so much patience to bear everything. He never received love from Reena, but from Sitamaa, he tried to fulfilled his desire to be loved by mother.

Although Sitamaa was maid, Eklavya considered her as her second mother. She took her of every small things related to Eklavya. Sitamaa was a widow who husband died due to liver failure, because of his alcohol addiction. His two years old son, Raja died due to pneumonia. She had no one to suuport, hence Sooraj offered her to stay with them. She could also feel her Raja in Eklavya, hence she calls him Raja.

Sitamaa's love made Eklavya realize that it's fine if Reena doesn't love him back since he has another mother to be loved. But that doesn't mean he stopped trying to be good son to Reena. He did every possible way to impress her, but all her efforts were in vain, since Reena never accepted Eklavya as her son.

'Life will not give me want I always desire; my mother's love.' A devasted Eklavya thought and closed his eyes. Soon his eyes consumed sleep.

The turning point of the story that Eklavya isn't biological son of Reena and hence she never accepted him.
