ALWAYS UPSET

-

soon they arrived at the isolated part of land in the middle of nowhere, after they took off, the shore got farther and farther before none of it was left in sight.

as the boat parked, they rolled a bridge down that mimicked a dock over the water. everyone got off the sketchy boat, mr. keery paid the strange men and they eventually took off, saying something in another language before telling him that they'd be back in the afternoon to pick everyone up.

before he left, he said one more thing to mr. keery—hoping that he'd understand—his english wasn't that all great.

mr. keery furrows his brows at what the man was trying to explain to him. he just said ok before the men took off fairly quickly, not wanting to waste time to get as far away from this island as they could.

joe just furrowed his eyebrows before walking back over to his students, seeing as they all stood around confused at what surrounded them.

the island was filled with vegetation, tall palm trees with coconuts and warm sand greeted their toes politely. joe clapped his hands together and got everyone's attention.

"alright kids, let us set up camp!" he said excitedly, smiling happily at his students.

they all furrowed their eyebrows, noah dropping his bags in the sand dramatically.

"where's the hotel?!" he asks, slightly starting to panic. sadie ran a hand down her face as they all just stood there awkwardly.

"there's no hotel, this is an island where we are going to study the natural behavior of plants and animals. we have to become one with the environment." joe explains calmly, dragging his large bag over to a side area before emptying its contents onto the hot sand.

the island was just cooling off as the sun was about to disappear and the moon would arise.

"would any of you gentlemen like to help?" he asks, grabbing a giant tarp and a few metal bars. he had two large tents presented in front of him, a small tent too—presumably for himself.

all the guys look to each other, waiting for one of them to step up so the other could.

"hell no." jacob says aloud, tossing his stuff on the sand and walking off in the distance, away from everyone. joe furrows his eyebrows, his protective instinct arising.

"hey, where are you going? stay with the group." he calls out to jacob in a warning tone.

jacob glances back slightly, rolling his eyes.

"i'm going to take a piss!" he yells, disappearing around a few bushes, the top of his back only visible. everyone looks away quickly, returning their eyes to the tents.

"i'll help, we need to put these up before we lose daylight." caleb says with his hands resting on his hips, sighing before waking over and helping joe lift up a part of the tent.

"count me in." gaten says too, eventually they all get the tents set up before it got too dark—just in the nick of time.

joe smacks his hands together, getting all the sand off his palms.

"thanks boys, i'll make sure to give you extra credit on this upcoming test next week." joe says nicely, earning a small smile from caleb and a fist pump from gaten.

"there's a test?! if i would've known we would be getting extra credit, i would have helped!" noah says, pouting to himself.

everyone was sitting down on the sand, realizing that maybe they should have made a fire first. joe sighs, his eyes lighting up when he watches someone spark a fire by the shore.
