Shalon Michelle looked into the small circle mirror for the nineth time. She brushed her blonde, frissy fringe to the side. Her annoyed blue eyes stared at the reflection, which was staring right back at her in horror. She was a pretty woman in her early 20's, yet she failed to see it. She was self-conscious about herself. However, it was totally understandabe, considering she grew up feeling neglected and being emotionally abused.
The doorbell rang, alarming Shalon.
She hastily took another quick look at her reflection and adjusted her hair. The door opened massively. It was Kio.
Kio was wearing a white tank top with dark baggy jeans. She had emerald green eyes and smooth, white complexion. Her dark, brown hair was cut short recently. It was slightly messy too, giving it the impression she hadn't bothered brushing it properly. Shalon thought she was breathtakingly beautiful.
"Kio, so good to see you!" Shalon exclaimed, feeling quite intimidated by her boyfriend's sister. "But why are you here?"
"Shaun couldn't come. He's been held back at work," Kio explained, her green eyes never leaving Shalon's blue pair. "So, I thought I'd come by."
"Oh..." Shalon could feel her heart beating faster and faster. She was not disappointed by the news, surprisingly. In fact, deep down, she was secretly relieved and a little bit excited. Being left alone with Kio was rare. And knowing that they were together, alone, in her house... The thoughts simply made her feel in a way she should not feel.
"Sooo... You got any food? I'm hungry," Kio said, holding onto her stomach.
Shalon nodded her head eagerly. "Yes, I'll fetch you some biscuits."
She disappeared into the kitchen and raided through her cupboards. She entered the living room, holding onto a box of cookies in one hand.
"I hope you don't mind cookies, but it was all I could find. I'll have to go shopping for food later on."
"Nah, it's cool," Kio grinned, accepting the treat. "I'm a big cookie fan. I used to play this virtual game when I was younger, and I named myself Cookie Monster."
"Really... wow, okay..." Shalon wanted to punch herself for sounding so anti-social. Poor Kio might think Shalon isn't interested - or worse - doesn't like her.
"I know, I know, I was super original back then," Kio said sarcastically. "You can say whatever, I don't really care. People mature when they get older, and I like to think I've matured... Maybe."
Shalon laughed nervously, followed by an awkward silence. The only sound that could be heard was Kio munching on the cookies delightfully.
"So, you and my brother, eh," She chuckled. "I wonder what you see in him! Ah well, you'll realise soon enough what he's really like. That is if you two move in together."
Shalon gulped. "I don't think we're in that stage, yet."
"Really? Well, Shaun's as ready as he'll ever be. I think he's in love with you."
"Why... why would you think that?"
Kio rolled her eyes as if it was the most stupid question that she's ever been asked. "Well, he's always talking about you, bragging about how amazing you are and how beautiful you look. I bet you he even dreams about you!"
Shalon cringed. "I'm not beautiful..."
"Now, let's not get all modest," Kio nudged Shalon lightly. "You are beautiful. And I'm not just saying that."
"Thanks," Shalon blushed. Before she could stop herself, she found herself saying, "You're incredibly beautiful too."
Kio stopped munching and stared at Shalon carefully. Silence invaded the area once again. Shalon held her breath. Kio's emerald eyes were probably her best facial feature. They stood out and had that touch which could draw you in. It was almost exhausting to stare at them.
"Cheers," Kio said softly.
The box containing cookies fell on the floor, causing the cookies to scatter all over the white carpet. Kio cursed under her breath. "Sorry," she apologised. "I'll pick 'em up."
With that, she stood up and bent down, revealing her nice, round ass. Shalon stared at it in fascination, until her eyes widened as she realised that Kio had caught her looking. Kio smiled cheekily.
"So," Kio said as she sat comfortably in the black leather sofa. "What do you like about Shaun?"
"Um... He's handsome and kind..." Shalon bit her lip, her mind quickly racking for more things to say. "He's funny and caring... He's full of surprises, and... and, I really like him..."
"Hmm..." Kio nodded her head. She moved closer. Shalon inhaled sharply. "Okay. Hey, can I ask you something?"
"O-okay," Shalon said, her voice low and shaky. She wanted Kio to back away, since the effect she was having on her was scary. She hated, yet loved the feeling at the same time. How was that even possible?
"Are you scared of me?" Kio whisper-asked. She was so close, that Shalon could feel her warm breathing against her red, hot face.
"No..." Shalon replied, her eyes quietly pleading for Kio to back away. Kio smirked slightly. Shalon found herself staring at Kio's luscious, red lips. It was Shalon's definition of perfect. She had an odd desire to kiss them, there and then.
"How long have you liked women?"
The question startled Shalon very, very much.
