Notes from Author:
oH hello everyone! just so you know, i've been writing, editing, re-editing and revising this one short story fOR 4 MONTHS NOW???

i just adore the cute relationship tsuki and yama have and how it is slightly hinted towards in the manga/anime, so i took things into my own hands haha!

**there is not much smut here, sadly...** cant write that shit at all.. anyways have fun reading this and enjoy!

Yamaguchi's eyes immediately set onto Tsukishima as he walked in casually yet confidently into the gym. The blond's head was held high and even a small hint of a smile could be traced on his face. Yamaguchi immediately noticed this and ran over to the tall and blonde boy, excited to talk to him.

"Tsukki!" Yamaguchi exclaimed. He didn't want to admit it, but after some recent events including Tsukishima praising him, which he doesn't usually do, Yamaguchi felt as though his life-long lasting relationship with the blonde grew stronger. It gave him enough confidence to be even more friendly with Tsukishima.

"Hey, Yamaguchi." Surprisingly, Tsukishima did not yell or tell Yamaguchi to "shut up", like he normally does. Instead, he happily greeted him on the behalf.

"Are you alright, Tsuki? You aren't being mean to me-" Yamaguchi turned his head, his eyes still resting upon Tsukishima's head as the blond walked behind him to grab a bottle of water, "-which is unusual." A confused frown and a raised eyebrow appeared on the shorter one's face.

Tsukishima didn't stop his sip of water to answer Yamaguchi's question right away. He simply wiped the excess water off his lips before speaking. "Well, maybe-" The tall blond turned around and fixed his glasses up his nose, "-it's because Kuroo-san asked me to date him." That same, happy smile that he lost talking to Yamaguchi appeared once more at the mention of Kuro.

One could practically hear Yamaguchi's face shatter as the news broke to him. Yamaguchi's stomach dropped to the floor in fear, making him sick. His heart sped up to the point that he could feel it throb against his ribs. Yamaguchi's hand shook as he raised it to wipe a forming tear away from his eye, hoping Tsukishima didn't see it.

See, the truth is, Yamaguchi has had a major crush on Tsukishima ever since he fended off those nasty bullies off of Yamaguchi on that one day in kindergarten. Yamaguchi was so amazed at how brave and cool Tsuki was that he couldn't help but admire and idolize him in his vision. Yamaguchi stuck around Tsukishima's side ever since then, always wanting to be near him all throughout his childhood and teenage-hood. Only later in Yamaguchi's life did the boy finally realize that all this obsession with Tsukishima was not a side-effect of friendship, but rather an act of romantic attraction. Yamaguchi was more than happy to accept the fact that, yes, the small fry was in love with the cool, tall blond that had the worst and saltiest attitude. He spent all his life tucking away his romantic feelings and just savoring the close friendship the two boys have.

Maybe, just one day, it will be something more, Yamaguchi always thought. Maybe, one day, I'll get my dream to come true.

"Yamaguchi? Are you crying?" Tsukishima's stern voice broke Yamaguchi out of his trance. His widened pupils slowly turned to face Tsukishima once more. His face had gone red from trying to hold back his tears. Yamaguchi's glossed vision could barely make out Tsukishima's scowl as he looked down upon him. The pinch server had gotten used to that menacing scowl, but this time he couldn't help but feel so scared and saddened by it.

"N-No no, it's not that," His voice cracked as he spoke silently. "I-I think when you opened the door some dust flew into my eyes or something." Yamaguchi turned around to the side and pointed to the door with his thumb. He stifled a sob. "S-Sorry, let me go clean it out." Somehow the short brunette kept his voice relatively calm throughout the whole lie he'd told, with the occasional stutters and sobs.

"Yama-" Yamaguchi pushed through Tsukishima before he could even finish his name. Tsukishima barely took a second to turn his head and yet his friend was already gone. Only the sound of shoes squeaking along the wooden floor told Tsukishima that Yamaguchi was even in the gym at all.

What did I do wrong? thought Tsukishima.
