Chapter 5: Kang Jihyo

{Confusing chapter. I've warned you.}

Jihyo glances around as she makes her way to Daniel's office. She answers her phone and says, "Where is it?" The guy on the other line says, "Relax, there's a secret cabinet behind his book case. It's on the 3rd shelf and behind all the books." Jihyo quickly makes her way to the bookcase and removes the books. She asks, "What's the password?" The guy replies, "It's your birthday." Jihyo inputs the numbers and it opens.

She retrieves the files and says, "I'll let you know when we can meet and-" Suddenly, a voice is heard outside, "Why is it locked?" Jihyo says, "I'll call you back." She puts the file back in the safe and covers it up with the books. She fixes herself and opens the door. Jimin greets, "Fancy meeting you here. Why'd you lock the door?"

Jihyo stutters, "Uh, I-I wanted some alone time in here." He looks at her weirdly and Mina enters the room with him. She says, "Do you mind leaving, we have to blacklight the room and you might contaminate the evidence." Jihyo nods and says, "See you around." As she leaves, they turn off the lights and start dusting around with the blacklight.

Jimin says, "She must've been reading the books." Mina raises an eyebrow and walks toward Jimin. He says, "I don't remember these being everywhere." She takes the books out with her gloves and Jimin's eyes widened. He says, "There's something behind here." She notices the safe and says, "Hand me the light."

She sees the numbers that were typed in and started to to put them in randomly. A few minutes later, it opened. The two exchange glances then take the file out. They pull out a paper slightly from the folder and gasp at the revelation.

Prostitution Bids and Buyers

They suddenly hide the paper in a bag so they could sneak out the document. As they turn around, Jihyo says, "It's not what it looks like." Mina raises an eyebrow and say, "You knew about this and you didn't tell us. This is a huge break in the case, possible suspects and murderers could have been written down here. We can expose everyone who partook in this scandal." Jihyo says, "What about Daniel? What if they find out about this and-"

Mina scoffs, "And what? He's already dead." Jihyo stays quiet shocked while Mina continues, "You don't know how much countless lives are ruined because of scandals like this and you don't how many lives were ruined because of the man you call your husband." Jihyo yells back, "HE'S NOT A BAD MAN!" Mina walks up to her and slaps her face harshly. "That man took everything away from me so don't expect me to hesitate. This is going public and you can't stop me." Mina starts to walk away and says, "Jimin, let's go." Jihyo fumes in anger and pushes Mina into the wall.

She hits her head and a small cut opens. Jimin runs to Jihyo and holds her back. Jihyo yells, "WHAT COULD HE HAVE POSSIBLY DONE TO YOU! HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW YOU!" Mina chuckles as she lays on the ground. She stands up and wipe the blood from her head and yells, "HE MURDERED HER! AND I WAS THE LAST ONE TO FIND OUT!" Jihyo looks at her confused while Jimin lowers his head at the mention of his daughter.

Mina continues quietly, "Ryujin. Does that name ring any bells? Of course it doesn't because Daniel hid her existence. She was an intern at Kang Labs and died in that accident. She didn't come home one day and I didn't know why. I'm a failure of a parent but it's not all my fault. When I watched the news I thought she was safe, her name wasn't mentioned so I expected her to come back. I waited and waited just to realize that she wasn't coming back. I don't know why they took her from me and I don't know where she is. We never got her body or any apology. Our daughter died and we didn't know why, when, or how. Do you know why? Because Kang Daniel didn't want to spend more money on the victims. He called of the investigation know there was still more people to be found. Do you still think he's a good man? Are you still going to protect him?"
