LUKE

"I want all of you to introduce yourselves one by one." Prof.Mason's voice rang out silencing the commotion in the class.

Mid terms were in just a months time and now we had to adjust to a new teacher🙄
One thing i really hated the most was change....i never felt comfortable with any kind of change in my life.

Inadvertently my eyes travelled to where Andrew Carter was sitting. With how things had gone down in the past week, i was scared that everything was going to change......

Carter sat motionless, staring ahead as if he were petrified.
What the hell was wrong with him? He had turned completely white like a sheet. Maybe he was sick......or maybe he hated physics....or.....oh hell! why should I care? It wasn't really my business..... I looked away trying hard to concentrate on the open book lying in front of me but to no avail.

I felt restless.  No one was really noticing him but there was definitely something wrong. He was sitting on the last seat alone. He still hadn't made any friends and i hadn't really seen him talking to anyone.

"Lu? Lu?" Sam nudged me hard.

"What??"

"It's your turn...."

"What??"

"Your turn..."

"Seems like your friend is not interested in introducing himself." I heard Prof.Mason's voice then.

What was there to introduce? He should be the one, introducing himself..... he was new here, we were not🙄

"Luke Sanders" I muttered without even looking up.

"Sanders??" His eyebrows shot up.

I could already hear the murmurs going on around me as soon as I said my name. The news of my brother's arrest had spread like a wildfire. I knew everyone was talking about the Sander Boy.

Most students almost believed that Jas could do such a thing. Suddenly, my surname 'Sanders' became a word to be used only in hushed up tones behind closed doors. Some even sympathised with me for having such a brother.

I almost skipped school today if only for Sam....

"Are you in some way related to the Sanders boy who got arrested.........in that Lake murder case ." His expression was unreadable.

Was there a hint of mockery in his tone? Maybe I was overthinking......But there was something about the man, which was making me uneasy.

No one had dared ask me anything about Jason directly but Prof.Mason seemed quite oblivious to the turmoil going on inside my head.

"Jason is innocent until proven guilty." I managed, trying hard to control the anger simmering inside me.  My brother may not he the best brother in the world but he was definitely no killer.

He smiled faintly. It seemed like his lips had spread out on his face but he wasn't really smiling. His smile seemed frosty......cold.

"Happy to see such a strong bond between brothers. " Was he being sarcastic?

Why would he? He is new to this town......
Of course everyone else knew how close Jas was to me.....at least for the last 7 years🙄 The only thing we carried in common was the surname.

Thankfully Jas was back home. He had shut himself in his room when he came back. I had gone to his room to talk to him but he wasn't there. He wasn't in the house.....maybe he had gone to talk to Mama........ I needed to find him.
