Jeremy McKinnon of A Day To Remember

Jessie's POV

" He's an asshole, Jess. " My best friend, Jeremy, blurted out after I told him I was going on a date with a mutual of ours.

" He is not. You're being dramatic. " I replied, rolling my eyes.

" I'm serious, don't go out with this guy. He's a jerk. "

" And you're not?" I retorted, shooting him a small glare.

" C'mon, I'm just trying to help you out here. The least you could do is be nice. "

" Jer, we're not teenagers anymore. I don't need you to look out for me." I gave a small sigh. "...but I appreciate it, okay. Please, just let me make my own decisions. "

A defeated expression washed over his face.

" Fine.." he spoke, getting up off the couch. " Don't come crying to me when he breaks your heart though because the only thing I'll have to say is I told you so. "

He gave a soft huff, grabbing his keys off the coffee table and leaving.

I gave a small sigh. He's always been so stubborn.

I know he's just trying to be there for me but it gets annoying at times.

Jeremy's POV

After leaving Jess's apartment I got into my car and drove out of the parking lot.

I know I was being childish but I'm just so tired of seeing her go out with these jerk faces.

They did nothing but treat her like crap and I always had to pick up the pieces.

I didn't mind though, I'd do anything for her.

Truth is, I'm in love with her. Have been since high school. I've just never told her because I don't want to ruin our friendship and it seems like she's obviously not interested.

It's just frustrating but I've dealt with it for over ten years so what's another ten more, right?

Sighing, I pulled into the parking lot of the place I spent most of my days.

The beach had always been a comfort to me and today was the perfect day.

The sky was cloudy and gray, there was a slight wind chill, nobody was there.

It was perfect.

Grabbing a towel out of my trunk, I took it with me onto the shore and set it down.

I rested my arms on my knees as I sat there, just waiting for a text from Jess that read something along the lines of " I'm sorry, you were right about him."

It seemed to happen everytime. I hated and loved it. Hated it because I wanted her to be happy. Loved it because it meant more of a chance for me if id ever man up.

The time seemed to go by quick but I didn't even realize till my phone buzzed with the exact text I knew it eventually would.

The sky was starting to darken even more but I didnt plan on moving, barely even realizing a car had parked next to mine.

Footsteps approached in the sand so I stood up, brushing myself off before turning around.

Jess stood in front of me, sweater wrapped around herself and being held in place by her arms.

She looked a little defeated.

" Go ahead and say it. " she softly spoke.

I shook my head, taking a few steps toward her.

Silently, I wrapped my arms around her in a gentle hug, letting her rest her head against my chest.

" I'm sorry..." I quietly murmured. My mind was yelling at me to tell her the rest of my feelings but I was finding it hard to speak now.

She looked up at me. " I should've just listened to you from the start...everytime.." she replied.

I squeezed her gently. " Its...its alright. This makes up for it.." I murmured.

I heard a sigh of content escape her lips making a small smile creep across my face.

I gently made her look at me. She seemed a little surprised but I just went on with it.

" look...I..most of the time I say that stuff out of jealousy. It's not my business who you date...I just..wish it were me. " I softly spoke, looking away once I'd finished speaking.

I heard a small giggle. " Oh, Jeremy. Took you long enough to say something. "

Looking at her, it was my time to be surprised.

"..huh?.." I rose a brow.

" You're not the best at keeping secrets...well, Alex isn't anyway. plus I picked up some hints along the way. " she smiled.

I made a mental note to kill Alex later before leaning down and locking lips with her.

It was the best feeling in the world and I never wanted it to end.
