JOHNNY

"Okay but how many sparkly boots do you own though?!"

"I don't know...like 4 pairs?"

"OMG SICK!"

Let me say, my desk had never been this crowded. It was now. And I didn't like it.

Noah's head was on the table, he was staring at Miss rainbow socks. Lily was firing away on why cheetah print was an extremely important staple in fashion. Annie was fanning herself, too overcome with how 'cool' the new kid was.

So yes you get it. Millwood doesn't get new kids. We get stuck with the same boring old people, year over year, class over class still the same old shit. It was boring.

Yes yes, I get it, we haven't had a new kid in ages but....WHAT was the big deal?

But then like I said, people don't share the same views and thoughts as me. It's fine. I'm gonna leave this place one day and I'll be off to my dream collage, Havard.

One day.

Meanwhile, I was still stuck here. With boring old sparkly boots. UgH.

"So you're telling me that you guys have NEVER held a play before?" She screeched.

Nadia blinked. "A play?"

"A play?" Noah repeated.

"Yes, a play!" Nadia snapped. "Don't repeat what I say!"

Miss pink jacket just smiled. "I can't believe you guys never held a play.... I thought you were head drama club?" Lily looked up from her nails. "Oh yeah I am."

"Then why haven't you done something?" She asked.

Lily looked taken back for a minute. "I'm supposed to hold plays?"

Everyone stared for a minute. "Huh?"

"Yeah of course, why else would you be head of drama club?" Lily shut her open mouth. "Well no one here in Millwood has EVER talked about holding a play."

"No one ever?"

"No one."

Yes, Millwood is a dead town and Millwood high is a dead school. It's common knowledge. I can't help but think of my life before I moved to Millwood, before mom-

Why is everything dead here?

Suddenly the bell rang. I grabbed my bag and left as fast as I could, rushing home. This has been a heck of a day. I don't think I've ever wanted to go home more.

"Hey wait-" I heard Miss sparkly boots voice shout at me from afar. But I was already gone.

KENZIE
"Oh honey how was school today?" Mom kissed my cheek and took my bag the moment I entered. I couldn't help but smile.

"It was great, mom!"

"Oh I do hope the kids are nice." Mom mumbled. "Of course they are! Well I got paired with this dude who doesn't talk much , he just sulks and pouts in the corner but I think we're gonna be friends in no time."

Mom smiled warmly. "Ah yes darling you work your magic. Pizza?"

It was a delightful dinner. After dinner I went straight up to my room and started planning the play. Also I've got some really cool ideas for spirit week. Apparently no one likes spirit week here? Weird.

This Millwood high had never staged a production before. Never. How was it possible? As a very dramatic drama queen, I am shocked.

Drama is one my few interests you see. My few interests include sewing, dancing, singing, drawing, painting, cooking, embroidery, playing the Erhu...(It's a chinese instrument, kinda like a violin but with 2 strings...How cool is that?!")

So yeah not much, just a few of my interests. I am not complaining tho. No stage productions before means stage productions now. I am literally bubbling with excitement, I can't wait to bring my plan into action.

I can't help but notice how dead the students look. And the halls. It is SO dead! I am gonna change this place. And I am determined.
