??? POV

Thump, thump, thump. Heavy footsteps shatter the fragile silence of Hogwarts hallways. Mysterious person in robes makes their way to the storage where the school keeps various potion ingredients in hasty pace. With only a flick of their wand the door opens and they rush to take some glass bottles with different types of plants and animal parts. As fast as they came, they return to the darkness.

KANEKI POV

My eyes flutter open and all I see is a plain gray wall behind the bars of my cage, the cloth previously over the cage laying quite far away from it. Not even a ray of sunshine could be seen, so I concluded that it was still nighttime. While wondering why I woke up, I was hit with a sense of foreboding, almost like electrifying tension in the air. I could smell someone near, but not sure who it was. Certainly not Dumbledore nor Hagrid. A faint sound of breathing floated to my fortunately quite sensitive ears. Soon a male voice whispered to someone else.
"Are you sure about this? I mean didn't you see what that bloody thing almost did to Malfoy?"
"It's him, Ron. Also Malfoy was being an idiot and deserved it."
That was a voice I recognized. It's the girl from the red house, whatever it was called, who talked to me after the lesson. Soon enough I could see the curly hair that the female student sported. Now that they were closer I could sense the two males behind her, supposedly the kids with her when we first met. Kids, my brain supplied. I'm not that old, Jeez. I pretended to be asleep when she curiously got closer. Only when she almost touched me I flipped to my other side opening my eyes kakugans blazing. She immediately jumped back holding a hand over her mouth to prevent her from screaming. The two boys also flinched clearly scared. After a minute of silent staring I decided to speak up, as the other party seemingly weren't doing so.
"What brings you here at night, probably pretty much against any rule or order you were given?"
I say without betraying any hint of emotion. Hermione, if I remember her name correctly, gulps loudly before answering.
"W-We-I mean-Uh..."
"Hermione said that magical creatures have some weird sense for bad omens or so. She insisted something was happening and dragged us here."
The third boy, Harry Potter, says in the stead of his still muttering friend. They clearly hadn't thought this through. I have no time to say anything before a loud crash shook the ground. Something shot through the roof of the building almost hitting the trio. They look around obviously panicking before Hermione comes to my cage, puts her wand against the lock and says:
"Alohomora!"
The lock opens with a soft click before Granger yanks the door open while the two boys in the back looking at the progress horrified. I crawl out of the cage and the moment I'm out, stand up straight and stretch my back with an audible crunch. While thankfully the chains were taken away for the night, there were sickening marks around where the cold metal dug into my skin. I exhale before running to the exit the troublesome trio in tow. When outside, all I see is flashing red and green lights and some Hogwarts staff protecting the students. The sight frightens the three troublemakers more than me, so I assume that they know more about what's happening.
"Death eaters..."
I hear Potter-boy mumble before dashing towards the group in red protected by an old lady, the other two quickly following behind. The half-giant noticed me and started his way towards me. Boom! Suddenly a loud explosion was heard very near. It took me few seconds and a horrified look from Hagrid to realize that one of the green spells hit me. Few more seconds passed and the look of horror in Hagrid's face morphed into confusion. I stood there, completely unharmed. I turned my head towards the caster of the offending spell and saw the same terror and confusion plastered to their face.
"No way..."
Hagrid muttered, probably to himself. Soon the care of magical creatures teacher had an uncharacteristic grin in his face, while the death eater started to back up slowly, certainly nervous.
"Oh my... It seems that you are immune to their spells!"
Hagrid half-shouts. He looks like he got an idea, and I am pretty sure that I know what he was thinking.
"Kaneki! Would you help us taking them down? I promise to get you back someway if you do!"
Hagrid's eyes were filled with hope and truthfulness. After few seconds I nod and he backs to the group of professors and students. He says something and the others seem to direct students somewhere else, probably away from the bloodbath that is about to happen. I can feel my kagune bubbling under my skin ready to release any moment.
"Finally..."
I say, more to myself, as I zeroed on few of the enemies. They also have now turned to me, ready to attack. I make the first move.  The 'Death eaters', as I heard from Potter, don't even register my movement before it is too late. My hand is going through the abdomen of the one in the middle, and the gaze of the person in question shifts to their bloodied stomach, clearly in pain. I rip my hand out letting vibrantly red blood gush out of the see-through hole. Finally the other two's attention turns to their rear.
"Avada kedavra!"
They shout in unison. Their attempts are in vain, spells harmlessly vanishing on contact. The bubbling sensation in my back strengthens until it explodes and four blood-red tentacles burst into existence. The two humans don't have time to do anything before the appendages behead them. Blood pouring from the corpses, I step over them and continue towards the other attackers who were now backing off. Some are now vanishing into black mist of sorts. The last few are holding their wands defiantly, but clearly scared. With a quick slash of my kagune they fall to the ground their upper bodies cleanly cut off. From the corner of my eye I see the golden trio peeking behind a pillar. I ignore them for now and focus on the fleeing enemies and run after them. Soon enough I'm surrounded by more death eaters. When I look closely, I can see their wands slightly shaking and their determination wavering. With blinding speed I take the closest person, a quite tall male, with two of my tentacles and let him hover above my head in fear. I pull from both sides, ripping him in half. With an anguished, loud scream he departs this world.
"Leave. Or do you want to have the same fate?"
I say coldly, seeing them visibly flinch. Some lose their resolve and vanish in black smoke, while the few defiant ones back down but readjust their wands with newfound confidence. But before they even realize it, their throats are sliced. Gurgling and desperately gasping for air, they slowly choke on their own blood. Limp bodies litter the ground soaked in red.

HARRY POV

It isn't an epic battle, it was a massacre. Death eaters die left and right, expressionless corpses decorating the yard. They were the bad guys, but this is just brutal.
"Bloody hell..."
Ron says, and no more words were needed.
"Language, Ron."
Hermione whispers, but there isn't any heat behind the words. She probably thinks the same as him. There wasn't any death eaters in the yard anymore, or alive at least. This is what we were warned about. I get a bit nauseous when an image of what could've happened to Malfoy comes to my mind. He is an asshole, but bloodied, eaten on the ground would be too much. My attention shifts to the nearly empty yard as the shuffling of feet came closer.
"Boo."
We jumped at least half-a-meter into the air as the voice comes out of nowhere in a complete deadpan. Hermione makes a weird chocked gurgle and Ron looks around in panic. Slowly I see the ghoul emerging from the shadows, only thing indicating amusement being the slight upturning of the corners of his mouth, eyes dead as ever. He's covered from head to toe in blood. The smell was horrid, invading our noses with cruel intensity. All of us, excluding Kaneki himself, gagged as he closed.
"Ah."
He seemed to realize that, since he looked at his hand and stopped advancing.
"Shouldn't you be with others?"
He commented and looked around like he was searching for something. Before anyone could say anything though, he ran off with inhuman speed and agility.

THE. NEXT. CHAPTER!
I'm feeling super quilty for leaving you waiting so long and I really don't have a good excuse... I just couldn't write and was stuck so long. This was supposed to be double the length but I split it in half because I don't know when I can make the other half. At least this is 1,5 K words... sorry!
I left you waiting with empty promises of "soon" and I can't say sorry enough.
I'm super taken and happy that this fic has so many comments and I have read everyone of them when I could even though I didn't answer. Thus, I can't promise a time for the next update, but I will do my best.
With deepest apologies, Author.
