"Well now that we posted those letters of Hamilton's affair with Maria Reynolds maybe we can finally-" Jefferson turned from his desk to see Madison, his best friend holding his arms and teary-eyed. Jeffersons smiled slowly faded into a look of concern.
"James...?"
"Please tell me we did the right thing." Madison said his voice as broken like a shattered piece of glass.
"James I don't know what you're talking about." Jefferson slowly and cautiously stepped towards his friend and wrapped him into a hug. Madison made soft sobs into his chest while managing to say:
"About posting the letters...please tell me we did the right thing. What if people judge us for getting involved? It was none of our business and-" Madison was cut off by a louder sob from himself. He couldn't hold himself together and continued to hold his own arms.
"Of course we did the right thing, James. If any kind of relationship is going to work you need to be honest. And trust me its much better that Elizabeth knows about the affair. Angelica will probably kill Hamilton but knowing him and his smarta** he will probably find a way to 'redeem' himself." Jefferson almost sneered, his friend clam down and was know whimpering instead of sobbing. He slowly looked him, drinking in the site of his beautiful brown eyes. Seeing his in the reflection, they were shiny and red from crying. He shivered slightly, unfortunately Jefferson noticed.
"You have to wear a jacket Jem. You know I absolutely adore that shirt but I don't want you to freeze." Jefferson rubbed his back comfortingly. Madison was always nervous about wearing his dark blue strapless long sleeved shirt around Jefferson. He knew he had to show him eventually and to his surprise he liked it. However he would only wear it around Jefferson because for one, he felt safe around him and trusted him. Two, he knew the others would judge him or get the wrong idea. Madison closed his eyes and buried his face in Jefferson's face again. He felt something warm overtake him and opened his eyes to see Jefferson had wrapped his jacket around him. He blushed a rose red as his eyes widened slightly. He suddenly felt his fingers stroking his hair.
"You worry too much Jemmy, about everything. I know it's hard to be going through depression and if there was anything I could do to help you I swear I would. And I-"
"You do help Thomas." The helpless male looked up at him with shiny and loving eyes.
"If it weren't for you I would've never...I..." Madison shook his head.
"Never mind that. But...I know I'll never get over my depression but when I'm with you I feel like it's not even there. I don't notice it, all I notice is you." Jefferson blushed and managed to keep himself from confessing everything. Jefferson pulled away slowly.
"Thank you Jem. And trust me, I know we did the right thing." He said softly. Madison nodded. He watched as Jefferson began to leave, but before his silhouette left the room he gently grabbed his shoulder. The taller man turned around with an eyebrow raised.
"Do you really believe that? About what you said about relationships?" Jefferson nodded. Madison took a deep breath and exhaled softly.
"Then...I have to be honest with you Thomas." Jefferson finally faced Madison, his hands in the pockets of his jeans.
"I'm in love with you." Jefferson's eyes widened slightly, he tried to find the words to speak but couldn't. He watched Madison as he was slightly shaking. Jefferson finally snapped out of his trance and without thinking placed his hands on Madison's hips and pulled him into a passionate kiss. Madison was hesitant to melt into it, after he was able to close his eyes and wrap his arms around the others neck he made a 'hm' noise. The two pulled away, as much as it killed them to. Jefferson couldn't help but laugh out of relief.
"I love you too, I love you so much." By this time both men had small tears of joy dripping down their face. Madison chuckled before jumping on Jefferson to kiss him again. Jefferson held Madison by his legs as they wrapped around his waist. The spin around and laughed after pulling away. They pressed their foreheads together and smiled warmly.
