Through the rest of the school day Samuel had noticed that Charles was so obviously annoyed at him.
But he couldn't exactly recall what he had done to make him feel this way.
Whenever Charles was annoyed he either talked a lot less or significantly more but usually with a sarcastic tone and let's not forget rolling his eyes.
As if there's anything back there...Samuel thought chuckling a little.
Charles side-eyes his friend thinking he wouldn't notice. Samuel noticed.
"Okay, why are you mad?" He finally asked.
Although he tried to ignore it and keep a straight face Sam really felt like he was about to laugh. He didn't want to because not only would that probably make Charles more upset with him (for whatever reason he was) but if Charles got more mad he'd have to go alone to the festival and that'd be...sad?
They were on their way to Charles' house. They weren't planning to go there or anything but just ended up there anyway. Charles opens the already unlocked door.
He still hadn't answered Sams' question. Since they'd began walking home Charles had practically said nothing and he probably should have acted normal because he's not going to tell Samuel the real issue regardless but Sam would probably be able to tell also why waste the effort?
He sighed breaking the silence that was leafs blowing in the cool breeze and opened the door "Are you gonna come in?" He asked staring at Samuels face.
Sam nodded. He was a bit scared of Charles tone. Never heard this before.
Besides that, he just walked in anyway Charles followed after.Charles swiftly walked to his room and Sam didn't know what else to do but tag along he was beginning to feel bad now despite not knowing what he did.
Charles flopped down on his bed and took a deep breath.
He sat up.
"The truth is, Samuel..." he began not knowing entirely where this was going.
"I can't take you to the festival anymore...""A-Are you kidding me?"
Yes, yes he was."No"
Charles decided to lie 🙂.
He never really lied to Samuel at all but this was more...trolling???The truth was, he could take Samuel to the festival and actually wanted to but since he was mad at him for inviting that other guy and couldn't exactly say that to Sam without sounding like a jerk he just decided not to.
Besides, Samuel has never ever gone there without him and had no reason to now.
It's not like he didn't know why he was annoyed.
Charles desperately held back from grinning. The fact that Samuel hadn't said anything in a while had been a help. What was he thinking.
__
Samuel thought for a moment.
Is he being serious right now?Why would he ignore him the whole day just for that? Like, going wasn't an obligation. They could just stay at his house.
"Okay then" He responded nonchalantly breaking the silence.
Charles was sort of shocked. Is that it?
"You know, I have to go now and don't worry I'll just go alone." Samuel uttered. He turned on his heel and mad his way out.
Once he was walking on the pathway it was already getting dark and there was no point of going home anymore.
He felt a little upset. Charles never even said why he couldn't come. Is there a reason? Did he do something wrong?
Ugh.
He began to make his way to the autumn festival.
The chatter began to get significantly louder from around the corner. He began to jog.
Samuel didn't really realise when he'd made it and was actually letting his ears guide him on this one.
But trust me when I say he knew he was there when—
He'd collided into someone so abruptly that he felt his glasses fly off his face. Hitting the cold hard ground, he was still pretty oblivious to what just happened.
Not to mention he couldn't see. Before he got up he figured he'd just ask the person he'd bumped into.
"U-m can you—" he reached his arm out not exactly reaching fo a hand up although that is what he got.
"He brushed off his coat. "I-I'm really sorry, I should've been paying a lot more attention" He blurted.
"Ahhh...okay? I'd pick up the glasses if I were you" Somebody he'd definitely heard before said.
"I was hoping that you could help with that..? Haha??"
"They are literally right there...Listen, I hate to say it but I'm not gonna get my knees dirty to pick up your glasses," the person continued
Sam had stopped paying attention and instead started to waver his arms around the ground in hopes of finding them.
The other guy began to chuckle and Sam had never felt so embarrassed in his life. He felt his face turn a crimson red.
"Okay, okay get up" They said in a softer voice between laughs 🤭
Sam did as told.
He could see a blurry figure. He must've seen this person before. They slowly tried to put the glasses on to his face and although he felt really embarrassed right then, he'd still wondered if this meant they had his glasses the whole time...
"Fucking twit" they slurred.
Samuel felt fluffy.
He can see clearly and it only makes him redder.
