Back on The Road

Its been a few months since the events at the school, and with the votes counted against them,  Clementine and AJ had to leave the school. They managed to find a car that ran, it was beaten down- one of the doors in the back was missing and the paint was worn out. But other then some dents and some lose ends, it could drive.

"So... whats this.. Rich-.." AJ started to say. Looking at Clementine as she drove. The sun setting gave her amber eyes a warm glow, almost glossy. She giggled softly as AJ tried to pronounce the name of the location they where going to. 

"Richmond." Clementine said as she kept her eyes on the road, periodically glancing over at AJ just to check on him

"Richmond..." AJ repeated, pondering over the word as he hummed to himself. Clementine has told him about the place before, but only bits and pieces. Mainly because she never really thought they would be returning. She parked the car carefully, hopefully to keep it from making too much noise. 

"We gotta walk from here. There is too much cars up ahead." Clementine said before getting out of her side of the car. Ahead of them was a long stretched road, with cars filling the area.  Letting out a heavy sigh she shook her head. Placing the keys in her backpack before putting it on. She let out a little shiver, it was getting colder.

"Come on kiddo." Clem sighed, crossing her arms as AJ still sat in the passengers seat in the car. AJ pouted softly. He was getting tired of walking. Letting out a soft 'Okay..' he crawled through the other side of the car since the door to the drivers seat was opened. She smiled once he got close to her.

"Lets scavenge around, but stay close." She advised. Walking with the boy to the wrecks of destroyed cars. They would of been lucky if none of the cars where looted already. "But lets not get our hopes high, we could end up not finding anything."

After what seemed like hours of going through most of the cars. surprisingly they did manage to fine some unopened water bottles, a couple of candy bars and some bullets along with a blanket from an unopened suitcase.

"Well, wasn't much- but at least we got some ammo and water." Clem said with a small shrug. But she giggled as she looked down at him, seeing him snuggle the blanket as he stood there.

"Clem...?" AJ asked, looking up at him from the white fuzzy material of the fabric. Clementine tilted her head as she looked at him. "Will... will we ever find a home?" AJ asked, keeping his eyes on the older girl. Clem's eyes softened and her small smile turned, sighing she gently got down to her knee infront of her as she looked at the boy. She couldn't lie to him, But could she also tell the truth? 

Taking a deep breath she gently let out a sigh. "We'll see.."  AJ gave a frown.  "But- ypu always say that. Its never a yes or a no." Clem understood his fustration, she gently rested  her hand on his shoulder as he tried to reason with him.

"I know goofball, but you just need to be patient with me a little longer. Okay? We'll  find something. Maybe not now, but we will. I'm trying.." There was silence for a moment. Before AJ let out a sigh of his own. 

"I know you are..." 

"Well, lets get settled for the night. Since its pretty clear tonight we can actually maybe get a little bit of sleep." AJ's face fell again, remembering that they actually had a bed at the school before they had to leave. Before He could notice Clem was already half way back to their car.

"AJ! Come on kiddo!"  Clem said as she called over her shoulder to him.

"Oh- coming!"
