There was a beat down diner nestled in the crooks of a large city. They didn't get much business this late in the evening. Lilith worked as a waitress there. The tips were nice, but being only one of the two waitresses that worked there, she often felt overworked and exhausted. After a grueling twelve hour shift she could finally go home.
Stinking of grease and coffee she headed out the door. It was a short walk from the diner to her apartment, but she was always prepared in case someone tried to take advantage of her. She carried a small can of mace in her purse and gave everyone that walked past her an intimidating stare. Nothing bad ever happened to her in the years she's lived in this city. . .
She unlocked her apartment and was greeted by a fluffy white cat. Lilith cooed, "Hi baby! Mommy's home." The cat purred in delight. After a few minutes of playing with her kitty she decided to take a shower. The stain of the diner still lingered on her.
She slipped out of her dirty clothes easily. She then turned on the shower, cranking it to its near maximum heat. Briefly she looked at herself in the mirror, taking note of her key features. Steamy air filled the room as she stepped in to the burning water.
It felt so nice against her skin. After a long day at work, a shower was one thing she always looked forward to. Minutes passed by as she soaked in the blistering warmth of the water. As she neared the end she noticed something strange. A long clump of black hair hung from the faucet. Curious she squatted down to try and remove it. Then a light whimper of a voice called out, "Help me."
Startled she fell to her rear. "Please help me. I'm stuck." The voice called out again. She turned off the water and listened closely. She sat in silence for what felt like an eternity. "Lilith." It called out again. Its voice came from the drain.
Lilith crawled her way to the drain to see what was lurking within. Just as she looked down the tiny hole two fingers popped out of the drain. They were a sickly grey and the fingernails had black muck stuck between them. They wiggled in desperation. Lilith jumped from the tub. She lived alone so naturally she was terrified.
She called the police and even though her story was bizarre, within a short period of time an officer arrived in her tiny apartment. "Ma'am were you the one who called?"
"Yes, there's a woman in my bathtub. I think she's stuck."
"You think? Where is the bathroom?"
"It's just down the hall."
The officer was slightly offended to find that the bathroom was empty. "Ma'am there is nobody in here."
"No she was in the bathtub. In the drain. She tried to talk to me." Lilith tried to explain, but she slowly started to sound like a mad woman.
"Okay." The officer seemed amused by what Lilith said. He got on his knees and tapped the porcelain tub with his flashlight. "Hello? Anybody down there?" There was no answer, he then shined his flashlight down the drain. It was damp, slightly rusted and very dark.
The officer stood up and said, "Ma'am there is nobody down there. Its impossible for somebody to fit in that drain. I'm sure you just heard one of your neighbors talking. Seems like the walls are thin here."
"No, I saw her. Her fingers were sticking out of the drain!" Lilith pleaded for the officer to understand.
"Like I said Ma'am, its impossible. Get some rest. Your mind must be playing tricks on you." Just like that Lilith was alone again. The officer was no help at all.
She didn't sleep very well that night. She kept hearing the quiet whispers, "Help me, Lilith." At some point during the night she couldn't handle it anymore. She got out of bed to make herself a cup of coffee. She waited patiently in the kitchen. There was a gurgling noise coming from the sink. Eventually it subsided and turned into that awful whisper. "Lilith!" It immediately caught her attention. "I'm in the drain. Help me."
Lilith peeked into the drain. She saw someone's eye peeking back at her. "Oh my God!" Lilith jumped back from the startling sight. When she looked down the drain again the eye was still there.
"Help me Lilith." The voice from the drain said.
Lilith was in shock, she had no idea what to do or if what she saw was even real. Unbeknownst to her, a petite hand was reaching from the garbage disposal. Its skin was grey and covered in a thin black liquid. It grabbed Lilith by the hair and pulled her to the sink. Lilith pulled against its terrifying grip, ripping a solid chunk of hair from her scalp.
The hand was reaching for Lilith. "Help me! Help me Lilith!" Its voice was much louder now with a sadistic tone. It struggled, trying to break free from its confined space. Lilith instinctively flipped the switch to the garbage disposal. The hand twirled in a violent circle splattering black blood across the room. The voice screamed in agony until a swift crunch snapped the bone.
Lilith was covered in its blood, it stunk like moldy water. She had to wash it off her face the stench made her gag. She went into the bathroom and ran fresh water across her face. She prayed the fowl creature in the drain wouldn't try to pry its way from the sink again.
In the bathtub, a murky black liquid began to bubble its way out of the drain. The bathtub was quickly filling with the creatures demonic essence. By the time Lilith heard the cold liquid overflow from the tub it was too late. A woman slowly peeked her head from the water. "Why didn't you help me Lilith?"
She stood from the water revealing her true appearance. She looked exactly like Lilith except for her missing arm and the black sludge on her skin. Lilith backed into the sink behind her and said, "I'm sorry. Please don't hurt me." Lilith grabbed a toothbrush from the counter. She was desperate and willing to do anything in her fleeting moments before death.
The blood splattered hand Lilith had dismembered earlier grabbed her by the hair and puller her to the sink. The creature approached Lilith and said, "Its your turn in the drain now." The last thing Lilith saw were the black eyes of the creature and her reflection staring back at her. She felt like she was drowning in darkness as her life slipped away. Until she saw a small tunnel of light with drips of water sliding into her eyes. She was stuck in the drain. . .
