My eyes open wide and my heart drops. I turn over still half asleep and slam my phone. I will never get use to the annoying ringing. It's a constant reminder that I can't sleep in all day.
I zombie walk out of bed and into the bathroom. I turn on the faucet and splash myself with cold water. "Another day being completely invisible..." A voice rings in my head. I sigh and brush my teeth.
After getting dressed in light washed jeans and a hoodie, I walk downstairs for breakfast. Nothing. Not a single food on the table. I open the pantry and grab a breakfast bar then head out.
I don't come from a poor family, but not a rich one either. We manage with what we have. So being that we don't have much, I am one of the only juniors in my class that doesn't drive. So I walk to school almost everyday. Well that's until James passes his license test of course.
Arriving to school, I walk up the front steps and rush inside it was too cold and too late to stand out there. Rushing to get to my locker I spot Haley.
Haley is one of those girls who every guy wants including me. She's socially acceptable and is kind to everyone, has about one hundred friends and more and is dating the most popular boy in school. Finn. Now Haley and Finn don't make much sense to me. It's like comparing a diamond to a penny size rock. Finn is cruel and mean. Haley is energetic and bubbly. I shake my head and approach my locker.
"Still not over her are you?" James asks behind me. I need to put a bell on him. I can never hear him when he's coming up to me. "I am, I am." I repeat. It sounds like I was trying to convince my self at this point. I can already see where this is going. James will lecture me about finding someone more on the social level as me and move on. "Guys like us will never date girls like her, and we know it." He responds. I grab my books, slam my locker and face him. "Look can we just drop it, you tell me the same shit everyday. I get it."
Deep down I knew he was right. But a boy can dream right. He can sure dream.
this is a short chapter, only because i just want to set the setting for the next chapter which will be good ❤️
