I need a new song. STAT! I ran to the Bar four hours before I had to perform. I saw a song I tried to work on before. Dear Ex-Friend. I titled the piece long ago. I read some of the song.
"AND SO,
So Dear, Ex-Friend,
I want you to know,
That Dear Ex-Friend,
You can't hold me down,
Dear Ex-Friend,
I will grow up now,
Dear Ex-Friend,
I hope you know,
Dear Ex-Friend,
I'm lying on the ground,
Dear,
Ex-Friend," It was good, but not what I wanted. I stopped my writing and began to do some searching the internet. I found this wonderful song called I Hate Everything by George Strait. It was perfect. I ran home and grabbed the boys."I cannot wait to hear her sing! And meet her!" Drew said like he was a little kid.
"Um, I'll be helping Rudy in the back with Miss. Mask so you won't see me often!" I said coming up with an excuse. They nodded okay and we walked inside. I changed and slipped in my mask as the music for the new song played.
"He was sitting there beside me throwing doubles down. When he ordered up his third one he looked around. Then he looked at me and said, 'I do believe I'll have one more.' He said, 'I hate this bar and I hate to drink. But on second thought, tonight I think, I hate everything.' Then he opened up his billfold and threw a twenty down. And a faded photograph fell out and hit the ground. I picked it up. He said, 'thank you, bud.' I put it in his hand. He said, 'I probably oughta throw this one away 'cause she's the reason I feel this way. I hate everything.' I hate my job and I hate my life. And if it weren't for my two kids, I'd hate my ex-wife. I know I should move on and try to start again, but I just can't get over her leaving me for him. Then he shook his head, looked down at his ring, said, 'I hate everything.' Said, 'that one-bedroom apartment where I get my mail, is really not a home, it's more like a jail. With a swimming pool, and a parking lot view. Man, it's just great. I hate summer, winter, fall, and spring. Red and yellow, purple, blue and green. I hate everything.' I hate my job. And I hate my life. And if it weren't for my two kids, I'd hate my ex-wife. I know I should move on and try to start again, but I just can't get over her leaving me for him. Then he shook his head, looked down at his ring, said, 'I hate everything.' So I pulled out my phone and I called my house. I said, 'Babe, I'm coming home, we're gonna work this out.' I paid for his drinks. And I told him thanks... Thanks for everything." I sang. I smiled as everyone cheered. I saw Drew, Tony, and Ryder standing up applauding. Tony smirked as he winked at me as I smiled bigger. "Hey everyone, thanks for coming out!" I yelled into the mic.
"WE LOVE YOU!" Drew and Tony screamed as Ryder laughed and spoke something to them that was inaudible to me.
"Love you guys too!" I said into the mic as I sat at the piano and began playing the music for There Goes My Life. I sang my heart out for the song and when I stopped the music everyone stood and cheered. A standing ovation. It was beautiful. I smiled. I stood up as the music for The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks began to play. I smiled as the crowd went wild. "3:30 in the morning. Not a soul in sight. The city's lookin' like a ghost town on a moonless summer night. Raindrops on a windshield, there's a storm comin' in. He's headin' back from somewhere he never should have been. And the thunder rolls. And the thunder rolls. Every light is burnin' in a house across town. She's pacin' by the telephone in her faded flannel gown. Askin' for a miracle. Hopin', she's not right. Prayin' it's the weather that's kept him out all night. And the thunder rolls. And the thunder rolls. The thunder rolls and the lightnin' strikes. Another love grows cold on a sleepless night. As the storm blows on. Out of control. Deep in her heart, the thunder rolls. She's waitin' by the window when he pulls into the drive. She rushes out to hold him, thankful he's alive. But on the wind and rain, a strange new perfume blows. And the lightnin' flashes in her eyes and he knows that she knows. And the thunder rolls. And the thunder rolls. The thunder rolls and the lightnin' strikes. Another love grows cold on a sleepless night. As the storm blows on. Out of control. Deep in her heart, the thunder rolls. She runs back down the hallway and through the bedroom door. She reaches for the pistol kept in a dresser drawer. Tells the lady in the mirror, He won't do this again. 'Cause tonight will be the last time she'll wonder where he's been. The thunder rolls and the lightning strikes. Another love grows cold on a sleepless night. As the storm goes on. Out of control. Deep in her heart, the thunder rolls." I finished and everyone cheered.
"WE LOVE YOU!" They screamed. I smiled and made a heart with my hands.
"MISS. MASK DO A DUO WITH THE MAN OVER THERE!" One girl screamed. I looked and saw it was Ryder who she was talking about.
Oh no!
