All day I worried about what the consequences would be for Mariah finding out about the Were-world?

It's kind of our one and only rule and not only did I break it, but so did Patrick, and even Braxton himself...not to mention Mariah was in My Aunt's house so who knows what else she saw or heard.

I couldn't help but wonder if the council would have to get involved.

I tried to ignore it, I knew there wasn't anything I could do now that would change the fact that Mariah knows...more so Patrick is her mate, so who knows exactly how much he had personally told her beforehand.

Come to think of it, I didn't know just when Pat met Mariah?

I'd assumed it had been that same day he found me...but what if he'd met her earlier?

Their Mates Pull would have been even further along than I was originally thinking...and that may be why I felt like they had so much chemistry.

But if their Mate's Pull was beginning to strengthen after the initial forming (and who knows how long that was before they found me)...then their being apart would be hell on the both of them...which would explain why Pat hates talking about her or the situation entirely.

That night the doctor came over just as precaution to appease my parents, and just before the doctor left Brax came over.

He told everyone hello before he walked over to me, I was expecting him to be there for my father, not for me.

"I don't know what's going on with your friend, and if she wasn't also Harper's friend then I could honestly care less about the well being of a human's personal whereabouts...but as it stands it seems that your hunches were right, she's not just gone but no one has seen either her or her mother...but it's strange..."

"W-what did you find out" I asked worried now.

"She was last seen in town the night after we took care of those rogues, she was seen at a bus station leaving town...but not before she apparently sold her car." He said.

"She sold her car?" I asked baffled.

He nodded.

"No..." I shook my head in protest. "She's obsessed with her car, I mean, she'd have to be super desperate for cash...but why would she need money if she's with her mom?"

"My source did say that she was noticeable that night as she was the only person at the station." He said.

"So she's alone, which means her mom should still be here in town...But Mariah loves Miss Joan, she'd never just run away, I know that for a fact."

"Do you know where she went Ellie?" Brax continued.

"If anything she will have gone to California, she has a brother that lives out there."

"And her Father?" He wondered.

"He passed when she was younger."

He sighed heavily, "Harper's worried about her."

"As am I." I put in.

"I'd normally leave it at that, this is her life and she can go and come as she pleases...I mean I wasn't even going to go after you and Vance when you first turned up missing...as you know anyone who leaves the pack may do so but will be considered rogues unless they have they're Wanderer like Ivy...and I wouldn't have gone to get you and Vance if I didn't mind link him and found out you two were in trouble."

I understood him fully, My parents had already had this conversation with me when I asked how come no one came looking for us sooner.

"...But after what your father told me earlier, we have to find out what all Mariah actually knows...and if she knows too much then we'll have to get her to come back."

"Is she in trouble?" I asked full of concern now.

I didn't care if Patrick or I were in trouble since we were the Wolves who spoke about Weres openly in front of a human...I was more worried for Mariah, as she was an innocent in all of this.

"No...but we need to figure out what all she knows, clear up any misconceptions and as she knows about us we will now offer her a light pack protection...Of course logical reasoning and the chaos surrounding that night could make her think she was hearing things, all her imagination playing tricks on her..."

I wanted to say Her imagination couldn't make up the feelings I'm sure she felt with her mate even before that night...but I kept that bit to myself.

"...If she pieced everything together and genuinely believes in it, then it is our responsibility as a pack to send someone out there and off her the protection." He said. "I figured you would be the best person suited for the task as you are a good friend...if it were anyone else they may frighten her and who knows how she'll react."

I could feel my parents stares but they knew better than to say anything that might contradict our Alpha's orders.

"So...this is me proposing you go, that is if it's okay with your doctor."

I nodded, "Dr Pollock just cleared me officially."

"Well it's like I just told Mr and Mrs Ocklan, Elise has been healed as much as she is going to." The Doctor said, confirming my statement.

"And I have the address." I admitted.

"You do?" Mom asked suspiciously.

I nodded, "remember...when we were younger, Mariah and I use to send postcards to each other over the summer...we'd go on all sorts of vacations but she'd always go to California to visit her dad and her brother."

"Then I guess I'll be awaiting your return." Braxton said. "And remember, we cannot force her to come back, but this is me asking you to find out all she knows and report it back...we'll go from there once we get a better understanding of it all."

Together he and Doctor Pollock bid us a good evening and turned to leave.

They might not have liked the thought of me leaving but both of my parents knew they couldn't go against Alpha's orders, and though they weren't specific direct orders, they were still orders given to me by my Alpha, in a suggested manner.

Technically without my Wolf I could refuse...but I felt like if I didn't go I would never get the answers I needed, and more than all of that, I needed to make sure everything was alright with Mariah.

My father went online and purchased a one-way plane ticket for me (as we weren't sure how long this would take) and I went into my room to look for one of the postcards I'd savedI pulled out my old diary I didn't have to look too far as I quickly thumbed through the pages and the diary opened up with the postcard acting as a place holder.

"There you are." I smiled as I took a picture of the address on my phone...then I began packing.

I didn't know when I'd be leaving just yet, but I knew I needed to be ready on the off chance I'd actually be taking off today.

As I finished getting everything into my suitcase I sat on my bed and sighed...there was still one very important thing I needed to do before I leave...and I knew this task would be the hardest.

I had to call Vance.

I knew he wouldn't like me going, he'd probably try and talk me out of it as well...but this is something that I have to do.

I looked down at my phone and mentally prepared myself as much as I could before I pulled up Vance's number.
