Bang! My ears start to ring. There's a flash of brown and its gone. There's also a trail of red on the path that the brown thing took.
Your most likely wondering what in the world i'm talking about. I'll give you one hint. It's brown and furry and walks on four legs. If you guessed a deer your right.
The deer that i shot was my first ever. Funny part about it is the biggest deer to be shot on my hunting land. It was also shot by the youngest member/hunter of our group/hunting.
It all started when we went to the blind. Off to our left is a little pond that reflects the afternoon sun. Next to the pond are a couple of fields that are green from the rain the night before. The lush oats and rape glinting with the dew that settled their early this morning. We hear a sound behind us and i'm hopping for a big one.
To our left comes out a little spike but it looks skittish. It keeps looking behind himself. As the spike runs off the field to the right. I see what it is scared of, a huge 8point buck, strutting out onto the field. I knew at that moment that that was my deer.
I got the gun up and ready to take the shot when the deer looks up. I knew that if i didn't take the shot tight then I would never get a chance to shoot my dream buck. I took the shot. Bang!
My ears are ringing as i see the deer run off. I coundn't tell if i had hit it. Dang! was all that i could say.
As my dad and i wait to see if it would come back out i was reloading my moms .300 savage lever action gun.
We want to go look for my deer when i saw the blood. Yes, I had hit it. When i saw how much blood was there I knew that my prize buck woundn't be far.
We followed the blood trail with myself in the lead. About 100 yards away i saw my deer lying in the tall grass dead. We called my brother to have him bring the four wheeler to us to hall it out.
We hook up the deer by the antlers and pull it to the field that i shot it from. That is where we dress the deer as the sun slowly goes below the horizon
. By the time that every thing was done and we went back to the trailer to eat it was about 7:30. I had got my first deer and 6:45 and we didn't start dressing the deer till 7:00.
That is the story of how i got my prized buck.
