AT SCHOOL
BREAK TIME

Rose is seated with her friends . They have their lunch boxes open on their laps.

Sarah: So Maria tell us what happened between you and Simon.

Maria: Why is my love life so important to you?

Sarah: It's not important to me. We just care.

Maria: Care ? For what. Why do you want to know ?

Rose: Maria , We care about you. Simon told us that you were acting all weird and stuff. AND he also said that he caught you kissing John.

Maria: What's so wrong with kissing John.

Sarah: You were cheating on him Maria. It is wrong.

Maria: What do you know about cheating?

Rose: You don't have to be rude about it . If Simon was the one cheating on you, would you have loved it ?

Rose: So did you expect him to like what you did?

Maria: Okay you are right. But Simon was not as interesting and loving anymore. He was boring me to bits. John on the other hand is funny , handsome , interesting and loving.

Rose: Then why didn't you leave Simon ?

Maria: Oh hell no . He is smart and plus he gives me money.

Sarah: Oh so you are using him ?

Maria: No I'm not.

Thabo , John and Simon walks towards the girls.

Thabo:(stands next to Rose) Hey girls.

Sarah: Hey Thabs.

Mariah: Hello.

Thabo: Babe. Can we talk ?

Rose: Okay (stands up )

Thabo and Rose walk together .

Sarah: I will give you guys some space.(leaves)

Simon: Ehm...Maria please choose who you want to stay with between me and John.

Maria: Oh please Simon , Fine I will choose. I choose John.

John and Maria kiss.

Maria: Bye Simon.

Simon:(leaves)

IN CLASS

Mrs Radebe: So how many layers is earth divided in ?

Rose:(turned away talking to Maria) You seriously chose John?

Sarah:Look at Simon . He looks sad.

Mariah: I chose John of course. Simon can be sad and disappointed anyway I don't care.

Sarah: You are very heartless.

Rose: Have some mercy on the poor guy Maria.

Maria: Oh hell no.

Mrs Radebe: Uhm Girls. One of you there ... Can you answer my question? Uhm Maria answer me please.

Maria: Huh?

Mrs Radebe: How many layers is earth divided into?

Maria: 2.

The class burst into laughter.

Mrs Radebe: Generation of today. The earth is divided into 4 layers. Maria , Rose and Sarah if the three of you will not pay attention in class then you will leave my class is it clear?

Rose: Yes Mam.

Mrs Radebe: Good. Simon ... hello... Simon..

Simon: Mam ?

Mrs Radebe: Are you okay ?

Simon: Yes Mam everything is okay.

Mrs Radebe: Are you sure ?

Simon: Yes Mam.

Mrs Radebe: Okay then . Let's continue... please do page 78 to 80 for tomorrow.

IN MATH CLASS

Mr. Janeskaki: You may be seated

The learners sit down.

Mr. Janeskaki: Uhm so today I am going to give you back your tests . (Hands out a branch of papers to every learner)

Rose: Uhm sir... I didn't receive my test.

Mr.Janeskaki: Oh yes . Uhm class ever since the first term ... Rose Maseko was the one that has been scoring 90% only . Let's give her around of applause.

The class applause for Rose.

Mr.Janeskaki: Well done keep it up.

Maria: Wow friend.

Rose:(smiles)

Sarah: I wish I could score 90% .

Rose: Oh don't worry , just work hard on your next test.

Sarah: Okay.

BELL RINGS

Mr. Janeskaki: Uhm thank you all. Uhm see you tomorrow.

The learners leave for home

AFTERSCHOOL
Rose and Her two friends walk together.

Sarah: Rose? You haven't told us what was so important that Thabo and you were talking about.

Maria: Finally one topic that does not include my love - life.

Rose: He was just telling me about his parents that are moving somewhere.

Maria: So he is also moving ?

Rose: No you silly . He is going to live with his uncle only for this year.

Maria: Okay I was frightened that you were going through a long distance relationship.

Rose: You know I wouldn't allow that.

Sarah:We know that. So let's talk about Maria .

Maria: Oh please guys. Really now.

Sarah: Yes really. What you did to Simon was really bad.

Rose: I agree with Sarah. Simon could not even pay attention in class because of you.

Maria: Fine I will go and apologise.

Rose: That's good to hear because he is heading for us right now.

Simon is walking towards the girls

Simon: Look Maria , I deserve better girls than you. You treated me like a piece of trash. I hope that you are not making a bad choice .

Maria: Look Simon I am really sorry . But I followed my heart . Sorry man. Hope you will find the girl you are looking for.

Maria leaves Simon stranded.
