He felt his heart stop, then drop down to his feet. In seconds his heart had hit the floor and shattered like a disco ball. Wes' heart had been light and glittery, bringing wonder and joy to those around him and suddenly it was gone. But he knew it was still there as the ineffable pain he felt was enough evidence to show him his heart was still there, but was it beating? He was unsure. His mind had gone blank, hands beginning to shake as the phone that was once in his hands hit the floor just as his heart had done moments before despite the feeling of hours gone by.
