Rowan gripped the steering wheel of his car, knuckles turning white as the pressure in his head tightened from trying so hard to hold back his tears. His day had been less than amazing and maybe even one of the most frustrating for him. All he could think about was having his place of comfort and to be at home.
As soon as he pulled into the driveway he was already preparing to make his way into the small house in front of him. He took the key out of the ignition, immediately hopping out of the car and walking to the front door. Rowan stopped inside, closing his eyes for a moment as he listened for any movement inside the house. All that could be heard was the shower running from upstairs.
He threw his jacket onto the couch, his eyes opening again with slight relief in them as he took off his shoes. Dallas was upstairs. In less than a second Rowan was making his way up the creaky wooden stairs, a small crack noise coming from beneath his feet once he reached the third step from the top. His mind was too busy to remember to skip that stair.
"Dallas!" He called out, his voice croaking just a little bit as he tried to speak over the running water, his clothes falling in a trail as he took them off on his way into the bathroom.
Dallas didn't even have the chance to answer before Rowan was slipping into the shower with him, much to Dallas' surprise.
"Oh- Shit- Hi, Sweetheart." Dallas stumbled over his words, surprised to suddenly see Rowan standing in front of him. He knew he probably looked dumb with the bubbles of lathered shampoo in his hair, but Rowan didn't care.
"Hey, what's up?" Dallas asked, his expression suddenly falling when he noticed Rowan's desolate expression and felt his boyfriend's arms wrap around him.
Rowan didn't answer, closing his eyes as he rested his head against Dallas' chest. He was so frustrated and upset, but part of it melted away once he felt the other's arm snake around his waist and fingers brush through his dark, now slightly damp hair.
A moment of silence passed, making the crackling sound of Dallas' heart much deafening louder. He hated seeing the other upset and this was certainly the first time he'd really witnessed Rowan in such a state, so bad he slipped into the shower with him for comfort which Dallas was happy to give.
Another beat of silence passed and Dallas was pressing a gentle kiss to Rowan's forehead and resting his chin on top of the other's head.
"I'm here, love." Dallas mumbled, holding Rowan just a bit tighter.
Rowan cracked a small smile, just the same way Dallas was already cracking open the happy and smiley Rowan he knew. Rowan was always happier where he was most comfortable which was at home.
Home could be anywhere, as long as it meant he was in Dallas' arms because that's where the true feeling of belonging came from for him.
