We arrived at Geronimo's, it was a family-owned pizzeria. My family and I have been going here since I was five years old. They have the world's best pizza, in my opinion, its cheese stringy and the crust so crispy, it was divine. The hostess took us to our table and we looked at the menu. We decided to get one large pepperoni pizza to split. The waiter came and took our order and we waited for our food. Once our food came out, I got a big slice. Ashley spoke up:
"Melina, this pizza looks amazing, almost picture-worthy."
She looked over at me hinting to get out my phone. I pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of Ashley posing with the pizza for Instagram. I selected to post it and I captioned it
"It's SLICE to meet you" #pizza #yum #food
Once I posted the picture we dug into the food.
The food was scrumptious. We then headed back to my house. My parents invited Ashley to stay the night since it was already getting so late. Once we got back to my house Ashley and I went upstairs to get in pajamas. Since Ashley was about my size I let her borrow some of my pajamas, we already did this anyway because she is like a sister to me.
After we got all cozy, I looked at Ashley and spoke:
"Hey, Ash, what other social media platforms are out there?"
"Well, there is Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, which by the way nobody uses anymore, there are some others but those are the ones most people our age use at least."
"Okay cool, will you help me get set up on all of the other ones apart from Facebook?"
"Sure hun, after all, I am the queen of social media!"
Ashley and I start working on setting up my accounts. It took a good little bit because there were so many platforms I could get set up on. Ashley then added me on all of my social media accounts. Once we finished, I signed into Snapchat and saw that Ashley had given me another shout out so people could find my account. Instantly, I got twenty people to add me on Snapchat. I was overwhelmed, I had never felt like I belong so much as I did right at this moment, I felt that I was a teenager.
I signed back into Instagram to see how many likes I got on my pictures. I was shocked to see that I had gotten fifteen likes, some from people I did not know and I had gained thirty followers!? I felt that was so fast considering I had just created my account today. I was going through to see who followed me and I saw a face that I did not recognize. I then spoke to Ashley:
"Ash! There is a random person that just followed me, what do I do?"
She grabbed my phone from me and then blocked them.
"I am so sorry! I forgot to set your account to private! That way people can request to follow you and you will have a chance to see their profile to make sure you know who they are."
"Thanks so much, Ash, I was so scared, I had no clue who that was! I have a question for you though, how do you have so many followers on Instagram?"
"Oh well when I first got my account I did not realize it was public and while I was posting one of my pictures got to the explore page and people started following me because they liked what they saw I guess."
I was thankful that she made my account private before I got on this explore page thing though, I do not want a bunch of random people to follow me.
The clock struck eleven o'clock. Ashley yawned,
"Well I think I am going to head off to sleep, goodnight Mel don't stay up too late."
"Haha, goodnight Ash, no promises."
I got back on my phone and started snap chatting with some of my friends. I then started to get curious about the explore page that Ashley told me about. I logged back on to my Instagram and found the explore page. I started looking at some memes that had made it on there, I then followed some accounts that I liked that I had found. After following some of them, I started getting requests to be followed back but then I remembered what Ashley said about random people being able to see my account so I declined their follow requests.
After scrolling for a while, I began to get sleepy. I shut off my phone and hooked it up to the charge and then fell asleep.
