"Is that the best you can give us?" Andrew White asked Jack. Jack looked uncomfortable standing in front of his Managing Director with the presentation. He was sure that he had spent all his past two weeks spending time on this very important presentation. But as usual Mr. White was not pleased. Rage boiled inside Jack. He hated the way Mr. White looked at his employees like they were nothing but slimy worms. He stares down at his employees to make them feel like that they were unworthy of working at his company.

Jack was the leader of his team. Their company had taken partnership with the ABC Group of Companies last year and since then Jack's day revolved around his office work. He woke up early and slept late. He neither had parents nor siblings. His parents had abandoned him in an orphanage when he was merely two years old. The only thing that he had of them was the name that they gave him. He knew their names from his birth certificate. He never missed his parents. The matron who was in charge of the orphanage treated all the orphans same. She treated them as she would treat her own sons or daughters. But as she had neither
she was the fairy godmother for all the orphans in the 'We Give Hope Orphanage'.

Jack never thought about his parents. Even though he is long past being a teenager he still looked younger. He was in his early twenties. For almost five years after his parents abounded him, he didn't even think that he was abounded. The only time he thought about his parents was when he saw his class mates' parents drop them off at the school. As soon as he returned to his orphanage that day, he confronted his matron.

"Miss, who is mom and dad?" little Jack's question stopped the matron in her tracks.

"I am your mom and I am your dad, Jack. Why, did you see anything or did someone ask you something?" The matron asked him.

"No miss, I always see my class mates with their parents, that's why I wondered if I had any," he replied.

Hearing Jack's reply made the matron's eyes burn. She took Jack for a stroll that day. She made him stop and sit on a bench in the garden.

"Jack, do you miss your parents?" she asked.

"No miss, I don't know them. I can't miss something I never had now, can I?"

Jack's reply made the matron look at him in wonder. She was amazed by this little kid's reply. Even though he was just seven years old he was very smart.

"Your parents left you here when you were just two years old. They asked me to look after you for a while. They promised to come back as soon as they can. They looked like they were in a hurry. They were very young. They married young and they had you. Your mother told me that her parents didn't accept of their marriage and her husband, your father's parents had died some years back. So they were on
their own. She told me that they were living in a rented apartment and that their expenses with you kept them pushing them to their height of patience. She said
that she and your dad were offered a good job with a higher salary in a foreign country. But she couldn't take you there with them. So, she had to leave you here with me for a while. She promised that she will definitely come back to take you with them to their country. She was in tears when she gave you to me. Your parents kissed you goodbye and before they eft you, your mom gave you an only piece of advice. She said 'stay strong and be kind' with that they took off. That young couple had hope for a better future. I could see it in their eyes. That was the last time I saw
them. Two weeks later the news announced about a plane crash and all aboard was ashes. Your parents were among them."

The matron sighed heavily. She thought that she would tell this sorry tale about Jack's parents only when he was 15 years old. But life was anything but about the time. She was not even sure about whether she would live to see him grow old. And also, she knew that this little boy was very matured more than half of the adults she knew.
