One second. One second can do lot. Maybe pair it with a drunk driver, it could be the best or worst second of your life. It can take away the people or thing most precious to you or the thing you absolutely hate the most. Today, at 6:27pm that one second did both of that. My parents and that wretched foster kid they had adopted. Fast forward 2 hours, and I am at the hospital I can hear the muttered words rolling out of the doctors mouth: " Maria Howell, time of death, 6:27pm. James Howell, time of death, 6:28pm. Macie Brent, time of death, 6:28pm. "
Well, this sucked. I, Alessa Howell am left alone at the mere age of 19 because of a drunk driver. And the only help I can turn to is my brother, Dan. Who lives in London. He doesn't even know about this situation yet so I guess I better ring him and tell him what happened.

"Dan?"

"Hey yeah what's up lil sis? Haven't chatted to you in a long time."

"Dan. I'm going to tell you something and you need to let me talk and just listen okay?"

"Okay, what's up Alessa?"

" it's dad and mum. There was a um a car accident and They didn't make it. I was only hurt by the impact so I just have a fractured foot but what happened to them is worse so yeah and yeah."

There was a long silence on the other end of the line before it was broken by a muffled sob.

When Dan had finally calmed down, he told me in a choked and raspy voice: "Alessa, your coming to London to live with me. I think we both need each other now. Go home and pack your things. I'll pick you up.. Say this Wednesday if I can catch a flight by then. Good bye and stay strong. I love you."

And the line went dead. Well this is going to be exciting.
