Wendigo Jin

            "Wendigo, a demon with eternal hunger for human flesh. Whenever a wendigo ate another person, it would grow in proportion to the meal it had just eaten, so it could never be full. For centuries it has roamed around the earth devouring humans who had crossed them. The Wendigo is seen as the embodiment of gluttony, greed, and excess: never satisfied after killing and consuming one person, they are constantly searching for new victims.  Humans could also turn into a wendigo by being in contact with one for too long", I read out from the book of urban legends as my little brother, Jamie, sits in between my legs looking at the picture of the wendigo.

           "That sounds scary", he said as his small hands traces down the page. I nodded in agreement as I smile before patting his head gently, "it does but big sister is here to protect you." He giggles before letting out a small yawn. I chuckle as I close the book and putting it on the nightstand before tucking him to bed. I was about to leave him to sleep when he tug on my sleeves making me stop in my track. I turn around to find him giving me the puppy eyes as I sigh in defeat, "Jamie this is the fifth time you wanted me to stay with you in your room." "But this is scarier than the usual!", he whines as I chuckles before getting into his bed as he scoot further back into the wall giving me some space to lie down. Jamie wraps his small arms around my body as I pat his head gently cooing him to sleep. 

         Soft snores erupts from his mouth as Jamie falls asleep against my body. I yawn as my eyelids fall half way before I look at the clock to see it was already past midnight. I yawn again before I fall asleep with Jamie in my arms. 

         The moon shines brightly against the lake as a muffled scream fills the air along with an inhuman shriek. The slender creature's mouth filled with blood of a human tilts up as it's ear twitch with it's nose smelling the air. Its glowing red eyes turning towards the direction where both the siblings live as it walk towards the cabin. Animals scurries away with each step it took, fearing the presence of an evil being. It finally reached the cabin and steps in quietly. The wooden floor vibrates as it's steps always ends with a slight thud. It made it's way up the cabin before it noticed that one door was not fully closed, leaving a crack open. The sweet fragrant was coming from that room. 

          With its long slender fingers it pushes the door slightly. The door creaks open as light snores could be heard. It steps in before its red eyes shift towards the girl in bed with a child sleeping soundly. Its saliva drips down along with the red liquid that's still covered it's mouth. Sharp teeth line themselves up in it's mouth as he sniffs at the girl. It wasn't long until she woke up to find a monster hovering over their bed with red eyes eyeing them hungrily. 

           I froze when I woke up to find a giant creature with red eyes staring at me. My blood ran cold as it bony finger traces down my cheek to my neck and shoulder. It's hot breathe against my neck while I stayed still hoping it'll go away. I couldn't keep my tears in as I saw what it looked like. Deer horns sprouts from it's head as skin wraps tightly around it's bones with it's tall built hovering over the whole bed. I cover my nose and mouth when a stench of what smells like rotten corpse as he stayed still before his long slimy tongue glides down my neck. A burning sensation followed by a sting as a mark appears on my neck. It pulls back as we stare at it other as I gulps nervously. It wasn't until a scream makes the creature turn towards Jamie. It lunges at him with his mouth wide open. Jamie screams and closes his eyes but opens them again to gasp as I winces in pain with my arm in it's jaws. Blood sips down as it's jaw locks onto my arm. I quickly reaches down to my pillow before I grab a box cutter and impales it at the side of it's neck. Jamie flinches and covers his ears as it screech and stumbles out of the cabin after it got the box cutter out and disappear behind the deep woods.

            I sigh as I trace my fingers down my bandaged arm and neck before Jamie came into my room still crying. I frown slightly as I pick him up and rub his back gently as I walk down to the kitchen sighing. It's been a few times that he had woke up crying from the same nightmare about that unknown thing. My eyes were tired from not being able to get enough sleep and waking up early in the morning for a few days to tidy up the whole cabin. "There there, Jamie everything is fine, I'm fine see?", I gave him a small smile before placing a kiss on his cheek. He giggles and nods, "Y/N can we go explore the woods?". I thought about it, 'I wouldn't hurt for a while right?'. I finally nod at Jamie as his eyes twinkle with excitement before he put his boots on and I chuckles at him, "looks like dinner can wait."

         I put my sneakers on and holds Jamie's hand as we walk towards the woods with him skipping around and humming to himself. It's autumn season so leaves were covering the ground. I let go of Jamie's hand, giving him the permission to run around the area that's not too far from the cabin as I pull phone out to take some pictures. I look up to find Jamie nowhere to be found. My heart was racing as I look around panic coursing through my body. "Jamie? Jamie come out now, this is not funny!", I yell out through the woods as I search around. The sky darkens as I kept searching for my lost brother until the sounds of leaves crunching could be heard  from behind me. I turn around to find a man standing not to far from me. I grip on my shirt as I breathe heavily, "my god don't come out like that!"

         The man laughs as he scratches the back of his neck, "I apologize for that." I eye him up and down suspiciously as I crosses my arms. He was an extremely tall man. Too tall for humans. But nonetheless,with that smile, he was extremely attractive. I was in deep thoughts until a hand caresses my cheek. I yelps as he sniffs around me, "Jin was right, you do smell intoxicating." "Excuse me?", I said with a raised eyebrow earning a chuckle from him, "right, where are my manners. The name's Jungkook." He said before he holds my hand planting a kiss on my knuckles. Something doesn't feel right as I pull my hand back, "I'm sorry but I need to find my brother."

        Jungkook gives a wide grin before he looks back into the thick forest. Growls erupts from around us in the dark with red eyes glowing. Another man, taller than Jungkook walks out with someone squirming in his grasp. I widen my eyes as my fists clench at the sight of Jamie crying until a deep voice hits me, "do anything stupid and this young human dies." My eyes never leaving Jamie's as he thrashes around crying hysterically. Tears spilled out of my eyes as I kneel down on the ground with my head touching the ground as I sob, "please, he's just a kid. He's had enough for the day, let him go please."

        I look up with teary eyes as they watch silently with those emotionless eyes before he drops Jamie down. Jamie ran towards me with his tear filled eyes as I was ready to embrace him. Blood was splattered everywhere. My lips quivered as the creature swallowed him whole right after crushing him under it's feet. My pained scream filled the air as my fists were planted onto the ground. A hand yank me up as I now come face to face with the man, "looks like I made the right choice by choosing you."

        I gritted my teeth as I choked out a sob. Jungkook sighs annoyingly, "looks like you picked an annoying one instead". More of the same creature came out of the dark standing with Jungkook as they eyed me and this man in front of me. "Can we go now, Jin?The others are waiting", he asked as he kick the leaves sending them flying in the air. The man in front of me, Jin, nods before he turns back at me and points at his neck, "remember this?"

        A large scar was on his neck, I look at him confused until the creature I stabbed that occurred few nights back came across my mind. I gasp as he smirks before he unwraps the bandages and points at them. "My marks, you're mine", he said simply as I look at him with my bloodshot eyes with my voice cracked, "w-what are you guys."

      "We are what you humans called, a wendigo and you, my precious little human was destined to be my mate and I don't plan on ruining this good opportunity."
