It is said that anyone besides their assigned partner is forbidden as it will only hurt the other in the process. Basically, they think that if you love anyone that isn't supposed to be whom you will marry is described as an affair or a fling.
You will also be known as a cheater in the eyes of others. Someone who is in a committed relationship and breaks the trust of his or her partner by getting involved with another partner even though both of you never wanted to be together in the first place.

Usually, these arranged marriages are made so that the child's intelligence will match with others. They will assign someone who is dumb with a genius and a genius with the dumb one so their child would bear a higher average intelligence.
