The soft jingle of a lock being picked echoed through the silent halls of the dim apartment. Rain fell, splashing gracefully against the concrete as a mop of green hair slid into the hall, closing the door behind him. This was a regular game for the man, as his bony fingers easily picked the lock of a certain future hero's room. It had been years since he last saw his old friend in proper light, favoring the dreary light of night over day. A sharp snore erupted through the rooms as the blond slept, not expecting his nightly visitor.
Izuku regularly snuck into his old friend's house, mostly to scare him. However, a part of him just wanted to see how he was doing. Bakugou always caused a spot of worry, and something else. Izuku often tried to ignore it, but part of him wanted to see the man who tore him down so brutally.
Even after all Bakugou had done to him, Izuku never hated him. The green-haired man sighed as he stood in the doorway of Bakugou's room, staring down at the sleeping hero. It had been less than a year since Bakugou had graduated from the school of his dreams, U.A., and he was doing pretty well for himself. Of course, Izuku was jealous, but he was also pretty proud of him.
A quick snore caused a cough, waking the explosive hero from his deep sleep. He rubbed his eyes, sitting up.Bakugou didn't proceed the greenette leaning on the doorframe of his bedroom. His eyes adjusted to the darkness of the room as he glanced to his window, watching the rain dripple down. It took a second before he flipped around, making eye contact with the seemingly glowing green eyes. Bakugou blinked, processing there, yes, there was someone in his room. He squinted at the fancily dressed figure and rubbed his eyes again. Izuku let out a soft chuckle, before breaking the seemingly deafening silence.
"Good morning, Kacchan. Nice to see you're doing well." Midoriya's voice was threaded with an amused tone, not sounding like his usual shaky voice. This was an energy Katsuki still didn't understand. Annoyance filled Bakugou's voice as he sat up, sitting on the edge of his bed.
"Are we really starting this shit again, Deku?" His tired voice was rough from his usual yelling. Bakugou still wasn't used to the periodic midnight visits from Midoriya, but he was getting there. "You left me be for a while there, thought you died." The blond sneered, chuckling.Midoriya chuckled with him, standing up properly, walking closer to the bed. "Yeah, you must not be watching the news much then, Kacchan." Bakugou cringed at the mocking tone of the man's voice. He sighed and rubbed the tired from his face. "Now, don't look so sad to see me!" The greenette laughed softly, leaning against the sides of the bed, almost straddling Bakugou. "You know you missed me."
The glint of some crazed enthusiasm sparked a nerve with with Bakugou, making him shift nervously. He growled and shoved Midoriya off. "What do you want, Deku?" Katsuki huffed, standing and stretching. He looked at the clock and saw the burning red numbers read, "3:45 A.M.", mocking him in a way. Midoriya sat on the corner of Bakugou's bed, crossing his legs and smiling. With a swift movement, Bakugou tried to swing a punch. Midoriya stood and dodged, letting the hero fall onto his bed. Katsuki couldn't help but grin, sitting up from his white sheets. "I've gotten faster, haven't I?" Izuku teased, looking at his gloves and picking lint from his dressy vest.
Bakugou sighed, "I guess you have." He grumbled, running a hand through his hair. "Can the game end now?" The hero whined, looking at the villain annoyed. Izuku grinned, stretching.
"I suppose I could let you rest now. But, you better be prepared for the next round." He giggled as the other rolled his eyes. With that, Midoriya unlocked the window, winking at Bakugou before sliding out, disappearing into the rain-drenched night. The game they played was less of a game, more of just a visit. Bakugou didn't want to admit it, but he didn't mind the visitations, though he refused to accept that. Midoriya heavily enjoyed the visits, whether it was seeing the hero or just getting out of the dark "lair" that him and his fellow villains share.
Too bad this game was the start and a bittersweet end.
