rivers pov

Waking into this hellhole high school is the worst part of my week. As I strut down the hallway no one even thinks to look back at me, scared that I will do something.
All because I told a girl I would, " Knock her fucking teeth out." But I had a good reason. She thought she was better than me, she was obviously wrong.
When I go to my locker I put most of my books away then head to first period. I sit down in my normal seat, in the back by myself. The bell rings and everyone starts flooding the classroom.
Our teacher walks in, all the girls ready to drool over him. I roll my eyes and just get my stuff ready for the lesson. He interrupts everyone talking and by clearing his throat.
" Class, Today we have a new student. Meet Grayson Dolan." I look up at the unfamiliar name and see a tall, tan guy standing by Mr. Williams.
" Grayson you can go sit by River. She doesn't bite" Mr. Williams tells him. " Yeah she does." Someone snobs from the other side of the classroom. I roll my eyes as Grayson walks up to my desk.
He sits down in the chair next to me, smiling at me. I just ignore him and pay attention to Mr. Williams getting ready to teach the class.
" Hey, I'm Grayson." He whispers, not trying to draw more attention than he already has. I continue to ignore him. " Yeah, I'm new. My twin and I just moved here from New Jersey." He continues.
" Thats nice, pay attention." I say, obviously annoyed. He finally gets the hint and starts to pay attention.
About twenty minutes later I see a hand come near my notebook with a little piece of paper. I look over at him and he's nodding his head for me to open it, as if he's saying " Go on, open it."
I just grab it and put it under my notebook. He taps my shoulder and points at my notebook. I roll my eyes and grab the paper, opening, and reading it.
" you seem very annoyed by me talking, so I thought of sending notes, so tell me about you :)"
I look over at him and hold the paper up so he can see it. His eyes brighten and I rip it in half. He has an astonished look on his face, as if I just ruined his life.
I giggle to myself and start to pack up my stuff. The bell for our second class rings and I walk out, thinking about lunch.

••• time skip: lunch•••

I head out to my car to go and get lunch as I see Grayson and his twin brother that he told me about by a bright Jeep. They are parked super close to my car and I really rather not talk to him.
I try to dodge him from seeing me but he loudly calls out my name, " River! Come over here!" I shake my head no and start to walk a little faster to my car.
When I go to open my door Grayson and his brother are right by me. Grayson all smiley, while his brother looks at me up and down smiling. I force a smile with my lips and ask, " Yes Grayson, what do you need?"
" This is my brother, Ethan. I thought I should introduce him some we're friends now." He smiles. I quickly respond with, " We aren't friends Grayson, but it's nice to meet you guys. Get away from me as soon as you can, don't want your reputation to already go down because of me."
I climb in my car and wave bye as I pull out, leaving them in shock. I drive to Chick-fil-A and get some nuggets and fries with a drink. I drive around eating until I have to head back to school.
Finally finishing my food, I walk in the school and throw away my trash. Heading to my seventh class. The worst one of all, Math.
The teacher doesn't like me because of my older brother. I'm good at math, but he likes to pick on me and always correct me even though I'm right.
I go in and sit down, pulling out everything I need. I look up at the board and see Ethan walk in looking around awkwardly to find a seat.
Everyone already has a buddy they sit with. I roll my eyes and call him over to sit by me. He slightly smiles and sits by me.
Mr. Stevens walks in and instantly starts to pick on me. " Ah, Ms. Montgomery, I see you've already met the new student. Don't corrupt him this soon. You might scare him off." He laughs at his own insult.
" River has actually been nice to me, stop picking on her." Ethan stands up for me. I look over at him, shock written all over my face. Mr. Stevens glaring at him.
" River is not nice. Watch out for her." Mr. Stevens turns back around to start and teach. I look over at Ethan, he's definitely the shy one.
I rip a piece of paper from my notebook and write a little note.
" thank you for standing up for me, means a lot"
I slide it over to him and hits face gets bright red. I smile to myself as he fumbles with it. I focus my attention up to the board so I don't miss anything. Copying everything down.

•••time skip: end of school•••

I walk out to my car and the twins are by their bright Jeep. Grayson waves at me and I just slightly smile. He runs over to me and hands me something. He quickly says, " Bye" and runs off.
I climb into my car and open the think Grayson handed me, seeing two phone numbers. I slightly smile and tuck it into my bag, driving home.
I unlock my door and throw my stuff down by the door and head straight for the kitchen. I pour myself a drink and hear loud noises outside. I check outside and look over at my neighbors house seeing huge trucks.
Then seeing people pull up, and climbing out of their car. I look to see who it is, only to see the twins. I quickly shut the curtain so they wouldn't catch me and just stand still for a minute.
So now I have to deal with them at school and at home? Great. I go one with my regular routine and grab my bag to go upstairs. I open my door and hang up my bag and start to change into comfy clothes, throwing my hair up in a bun.
I turn on some music and grab out my homework. Getting ready for long hours of stress. Then I hear a knock at the door and I groan. I run down the steps and open the door.
" River?" Ethan asks, shocked. I simply nod my head and look at the basket in Graysons hands.
" What's the basket for?" I question. " Oh, it's a just a gift basket, our mom wanted us to send it over." Ethan smiles. " Oh, well thank you." I grab the basket. They smile at me and wave goodbye as they go back to their house.
I sit the basket on the kitchen counter, waiting to open it with my parents. I head back upstairs to get to my homework, rushing to get it done before my parents come home.
