My head throbbed. "You just don't understand me Ma,you don't remember what it was like being seventeen!" My teenage daughter,Alice, was yelling again. This had been happing more and more often....how I wished Steven was still alive...Alice never argued with her father. But sadely he was dead and gone. Then Alice's boyfriend,Rick cheated on her and then when confronted about it,dumped her. No,that doesn't explain it enough.....he ripped out her heart and crushed it....Alice was broken, and lashed out at everyone around her. Mostly me.
-Later that night-
Alice went to bed after screaming at me for a couple more minutes..... "I wish my daughter never complained.....I want a perfect daughter...." I whispered into the night, before drifting off into a dreamless sleep.
-Morning-
I woke up to silence. That was odd, normally Alice is banging stuff around and cursing. I shrug it off, then stretched and walked downstairs. Alice was sitting at the table, slumped, her blonde curls completely obscuring her face. The anger phase must've passed, and moved on to the depressed phase. I pull out my mixing bowl and glance at Alice, "How about a warm breakfast this morning instead of nasty cereal?" Alice was motionless,no nod, shrug,or shake of the head. I finished cooking, then placed a plate of eggs in front of Alice. She took no notice of it being there. I slowly began to get a bit worried...... "Sweetheart? Is everything alright?" Alice still didn't answer. Finally,I'd had enough. I reached over, gripping her chin, and tilted her head up so I could see her face. What I saw next made me scream in horror. Alice's eyelids had been sewn shut with black stitches, her mouth had been stitched into a creepy black pout. I checked her pulse.......nothing.... "No....no,ALICE!" I shook my poor dead daughter, and a piece of parchment fell out of her hand. Written on the paper,in handwriting I didn't recognize it said
The only perfect daughter,is a dead daughter.
